Pre-Order Thread

That Peak vinyl shipped for $22 will be tough to beat. And they're not so big that the Peak won't be available at locals too. Looking forward to this one...and a tour.

Also the discovery pick for Magnolia for July.

That just means it’s left Germany. There wouldn’t be another update until usps say they have it.

I’d be getting onto jpc at this stage to query as there has been no status update for 5 weeks. There are huge delays at the moment with international post in europe.
Yea I'll reach out. I have a feeling @RHANDMJ is right and JPC won't be able to do much at this point. I've tried to avoid ordering from international sellers in the past year but they had a bunch of the Speakers Corner stuff I couldn't find anywhere else for even cheaper than the US. Not blaming JPC for anything either, but I'll be moving in about a month so hoping it arrives by then.

No that’s true, it’s not jpc’s fault. But they’re the postal companies customer and so any claim has to go through them. Plus if you paid by PayPal their buyer protection and your right to claim comes into it eventually.

I actually don’t necessarily agree. That doesn’t mean it’s hit America. Just that it’s been scanned out of Germany. It may just as easily be in a hopper in Germany awaiting a plane as in America waiting USPS to scan it in.

Deutsche Post/DHL have been pretty horrific for a long time as an international customer for me and it’s almost to the point that if I can get it in another country I won’t buy from Germany to avoid them.

This also plays into the club who must not be mentioned who also ship international with DHL so they go through Germany. My last two one off buys were both lost in Germany by DHL and necessitated second packages coming out from them.

DHL has been extremely hit or miss for me. I got that Zavvi bundle of jazz pressings that arrived in 2 days from europe. Then this one has been sitting there for over a month. I'll reach out to them though.

Depending on the price of the other variants I may cancel my discovery pick for the first time in forever since I am not a big fan of this variant. I like that Peak version way better than this.

If has been scanned as out of Germany, that means it is in a USPS hopper, not a DHL one. That's how it works - it has been transferred to USPS possession, whether it is still sitting in Germany or in the U.S. - and as we all know, waiting for a plane when international flights are curtailed can cause very lengthy delays. I am experiencing some around that length myself from other countries.

We should also remember that DHL, in Germany, is a division of Deutsche Post, and as such, offers much different services domestically that it does internationally. Buying basic air service from DHL in Germany is nothing more than buying typical tracked air mail from USPS.

BTW, I live in Canada, and my Club stuff comes directly from the USA via DHL courier, and quickly. Not through Germany, which would be nuts for my location. I am not a fan of DHL in Germany either, but I have to say - I had a package sent from Japan Thursday that DHL delivered to me yesterday, on a Sunday. Can't complain.

That sounds like a good idea. When I had a domestic DHL package delayed by a month they could at least get better info out of DHL as a big business customer.

Hope you saw @Twentytwo’s post below yours. If the Isbell show in Durham is still on for June, he is opening. DPAC site says it’s still on and I have tickets from the cancelled show last year.

Sometimes Magnolia Discovery picks are headscratchers. Ruston Kelly and this come to mind a lot.
I damn I sort of get it. I had never heard Kelly so he was a discovery for me and I’m betting the majority of the club has never heard of HGM. Now Andrew Bird, no fucking clue why that was a “discovery” pick.

I'm excited for some shows to start happening, and I'll look to travel for some if need be. Have my second vaccine shot coming next Monday, so that makes me feel a bit better about just me for traveling. Also somehow the Nicole Atkins show here in PDX was never cancelled, but rescheduled for this August from last year.

That Isbell show and The Black Crowes show at Walnut Creek are the only things that got rescheduled and never eventually cancelled for me. I’ve been vaccinated fully. We’ll see what the rest of the world looks like in June and July.

I'm so ready. I missed a lot of shows last year, hoping they come back. Big one was Stapleton, Isbell, Highwomen at Wrigley Field.
