Pre-Order Thread

Exactly. I have one in my cart, but $80 is a lot of money for a 2LP set, especially when the sound quality would be questionable
Wait until you try checking out and you see the shipping fee. The Viper Room release was the last record I bought 7-8 months ago after I stopped buying records and I love it and think it was worth the price tag and I’m a huge early Pumpkins fan …but I can’t do this one, all things considered with the price and shipping and uncertainty of the sound quality.

I imagine someone trying to sell a comedy album by stating that it's compromised of likely low quality recordings of jokes from early on in their career that they scrapped after trying out live only once
I mean, if the jokes were scrapped for being unfunny, racist, problematic, etc, there is a large base of ‘comedy fans’ who could find it in themselves to overlook the sound quality. ;):censored::cool:

Yes. Hard no for me also. $100.60 shipped with tax. That is harsh for a 2lp authorized bootleg. There are a couple Jazz RSD titles I plan to take a chance on @ $50 or so.

They should be putting these out there at a reasonable price for the fans who have supported them from the beginning. 😠 It is what it is.

“Of note, most of the recordings, culled from these 60 tapes, were done with 2 microphones in the open air of a club or rehearsal space offering fans a unique opportunity to place themselves in the crowd when The Smashing Pumpkins took the stage some 30+ years ago.

Although never intended for release, and commissioned strictly so the band could review its live performances, these original tapes have been digitally processed to the highest standards….”

Still anyone grabs one be sure to post a review. I like releases like these if they well done. Always interesting.

Update: Showing sold out now. Hope someone grabbed one and it sounds good.

Did you get the Viper Room release? I ordered it and haven’t received any updates

Jokes ARE scrapped for being "unfunny" when they don't land or work out. That's precisely how standup routines are honed over time.

Any mention of racism or them being "problematic" feels like a really left field and disconnected stretch on your part to pull this in some weird completely unrelated direction.

That said, I'm sure there are plenty of superfans, whether of Smashing Pumpkins or numerous other acts, who are more than happy to dump ridiculous amounts of money on mediocre scrapped material that sounds like it's pumping through a CB radio.

he's making money on these at what he feels is an appropriate price point and i don't fault him at all for that- he is, after all, one of a few artists i feel i can say has a highly inflated view of himself, so it follows his price for these would also be inflated. i supported him once, too, but any notion i had that he actually cares about his fans, let alone putting something like this out for our benefit, has long been gone.

I was only referring to the common tropes found in open mic/amateur stand up (and how those tropes aren’t too far removed from some standup that is successful in the internet/Patreon era). Not hinting at SP’s own issues.

Yes, you buy music from artist because the music brings u some joy. Some artist are easier to support than others. It is what it is….

Finally, indeed!

Took this off my wantlist recently because I was convinced I’d never find a copy for a decent price, so this is a welcome surprise!
Yep , only seen once in the wild and my local dealer wanted £100+ several years ago ...great album , my only regret hear is they missed a trick to make it a double and add the b sides and non album single ...as they are quality too ..

Has anyone found a US seller that feels secure? Bull Moose has it for preorder. Debating that or from my UK go-to Banquet Records, who have never let me down before.
