Pre-Order Thread

Here's another one I missed. The Allah Las have a new one coming out on October 11th.

On their fourth LP, drummer Matt Correia, bassist Spencer Dunham, and guitarists Miles Michaud and Pedrum Siadatian turn their collective gaze outward and toward the horizon. Simply titled LAHS (a reference to a common misspelling of the band’s name), their forthcoming release on Mexican Summer finds the band turning in their most cohesive and ambitious work yet.

Translucent orange vinyl + a signed print for $19.99 through Mexican Summer:

After Achtung Baby right? :)

War is generally regarded as one of their best. I do really enjoy Boy though as well.

Actung is third and the first half of Joshua Tree fourth. After that I’m not huge into any albums, I prefer the 1980-1990 and 1990-2000 singles collections...

And no I don’t like them enough to have bothered with demos, hell I don’t like demos enough to car for the bands I really love lol.

I rank Joshua Tree middle of the pack. But mainly because the first half is so overplayed. 1990-2000 is one of my favorite compilation albums of all time because of the few songs with new mixes and including Hold Me Thrill Me Kiss Me Kill Me. It's still a fresh take even if you know all the albums well.

There is a closeness at the heart of Turnover’s aptly titled new album, ‘Altogether.’ Though it’s the first collection the trio has written while living on opposite coasts, the record actually represents the group’s most collaborative and connected work to date, showcasing the intuitive, near-telepathic relationship frontman Austin Getz has developed over the years with his bandmates.
Turnover first emerged roughly a decade ago in Virginia Beach, VA, but the group’s critical and commercial breakthrough didn’t arrive until six years later, when they cracked the Top 5 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart with their acclaimed sophomore album, ‘Peripheral Vision.’ The band—which consists of Getz, his brother Casey on drums, and their childhood friend Danny Dempsey on bass—followed it up in 2017 with ‘Good Nature,’ a streaming smash that racked up roughly 40 million plays on Spotify alone and which Vice proclaimed to be “their best album yet.”
‘Altogether’ demonstrates the band’s eclectic mix of personalities from the very start, opening with a lo-fi, jazzy intro that quickly gives way to the driving drums and delay-drenched guitar of “Still In Motion.” Like much of the album to come, the song is a meditation on change and perspective, on learning to quiet your mind and appreciate the moment before it’s gone. The bittersweet “No Reply” reckons with guilt over failing to be present with a loved one, while the effervescent “Much After Feeling” recognizes the sacrifices we make to stay connected across geographical distance, and the breezy “Parties” grapples with the kind of self-consciousness that can leave us prisoners of our own design.
Turnover’s new album Altogether arrives November 1st on Run For Cover Records.
Please Note: The RFC Monthly Staff Pick does NOT include a copy of this album on it's own - it is a $5 LP from the Run For Cover Catalog picked monthly by our staff. Purchasing this option on it's own does NOT add the main title on this page to your cart, you need to add it separately.
