I just can't with his voice. It's the definition of a lo-fi voice and the first 2 YL albums will always be great, but I feel there's a reason why he ended this project and now I'm not so sure why he's bringing it back. Hope I'm wrong.

I actually liked Savage Hills Ballroom to some extent but his voice sounds a little out of place amongst the music. I agree that his voice works better when it's drenched in sound like on those first two records.

Hard to say this is where you should start your journey with Jason Molina, but if you dive into his more common albums (with Songs: Ohia, Magnolia Electric Co., etc.) you'll eventually wish you'd grabbed this.

You are in for a Treat. Jason Molina was amazing. Songs: Ohia - Magnolia Electric Co. is one of my all time favorites but his catalog is full of gems.
