I mean that’s been every single since at least concrete and gold

I think you mean since the turn of the century/There is Nothing Left To Lose.

I dont know if he needs to just take more time between albums so that he can do some serious editing or if he needs someone in his corner to be honest wit him that MOST of what is going on each album is just not good.

If he had taken some time after There is Nothing and that tour and released an album in 2007 with this track list, he'd have put out one of his best records up to that time: 1) All my Life; 2) Low; 3) Times Like These; 4) Best of You; 5) The Last Song; 6) DOA; 7) The Pretender; 8) Long Road to Run; 9) Come Alive.

Also, I think he's run out things to say and he needs his own Bernie Taupin or Robert Hunter.

It popular to say that Guitar Rock is dead and I say that's because Grohl is now the cultural avatar for the genre and after 2000 he stopped doing anything good, beyond the occasional single. (The best of which since 2000 was Run on Concrete and Gold)

And its sad, because the S/T debut fucking rips and pointed in a completely different direction than where we are now. The Colour in the Shape started meldling the full throat scream of I'll Stick Around with the pop of Big Me in a really thoughtful and satisfying way (See February Stars - which kind of channels Hum) and There is Nothing Left to Lose proved the breadth of his Heavy/Pop/Rock chops which he channeled into a cohesive journey from track 1 through 11 that is all Killer no Filler regardless of which of the genres the song was pulling from.

I don' know what happened or what changed after that but Foo Fighters became Talyor Swift/Ed Sheeran with distortion pedals.

I want to like that comparison, but Taylor Swift’s output for the past 15 years is far superior to the FF’s
You may very well be right.

Have I heard the TS albums,, yes.
Have I heard the FF albums since 2000, also yes

But, I can't weigh in on that debate because other than a once or twice time through the album to be conversant with popular culture writ large - I don't digest or really care for "Pop" music (with the occasional exception).

So when you tell me one Pop Artists work is better than another Pop Artists work (cause that's that FF are now Pop Artists using distortion) I'm not going to say you are wrong, because its not a genre I invest any real time with or really care too much about.

From what I recall Grohl might be able to handle the the drumming duties at least temporarily. Supposedly he played drums in the band he was in prior to forming Foo Fighters.
The idea post s/t was after the color and the shape sessions and how he pretty much re-recorded 99% of will's drumming, dave basically told will "you're drumming is not good enough studio wise, but you're more than welcome to be my touring drummer", needless to say Will quit (and thankfully helped reformed Sunny Day Real Estate, who made their best album in 1997/98).

So really, the idea of Dave doing all studio drums with a touring drummer, was the idea moving forward once the 2nd album was recorded, so it wouldn't surprise me if this is the way from here on out.

All jokes aside, he did all the drumming for the first two FF albums and partially on the third, when Taylor joined. Wouldn’t be surprised if they never hire a full time studio drummer again, unless Dave just gets too old for it.

I get that they aren’t as great as they once were. I actually think Wasting Light is their best work. I also thought Sonic Highways was interesting. Concrete and Gold is the only one I outright dislike, even Midnight turned out to be a grower.

I think if I had to rank them it would be

1. S/T
2. The Colour And The Shape
3. There Is Nothing Left To Lose
4. Wasting Light

You could put together a killer B-Sides/Late!/unreleased songs LP from those records as well (and a few of the later ones). Winnebago/FFL/How I Miss You/Mountain Of You/Slackers Password/ The Colour And The Shape (the actual song) etc etc

I really did not like sonic highways, minus the song about DC/DC HarDCore, but I will say the Saint Cecelia EP is pretty underrated , especially the last song on it, The Never Ending Sigh, which I think was actually a really old song that was kicking around for a long time. That song is a total monster.
