Pre-Order Thread

Surprised this hasnt been discussed here yet in the Milli Vanilli thread.

I'm sure one is coming at somepoint next year. The single drops next Friday. I don't get the point of buying 7" records as they are usually pretty expensive for a single song. I'd rather spend my money on a full length album..
I collect them:

Of course with the labels I collect them from there are not only b-sides but the odd this song is never going to be on an album thing…

I’m guessing younger collectors dont have the same nostalgic affection for singles and the old singles charts that we do and they. probably don’t really have any exposure to non album singles, certainly not in the frequency that we would have seen when we were younger anyway.

Yeah, I still have my first records which were 45s of the Beatles and Kiss. It is very much a part of my hobby and dates to its earliest incarnation.

Yeah and I’m 10 years younger than you and still as a very young kid my music journey began with 7”s and actually even more so cd singles. The singles chart was king and I had a good sized collection of those before albums became a thing for me.

I wish I still had all of my cassette singles. I could only afford the hits on a kid’s allowance haha! I remember them being from $.99 to $2.49 in most cases.

Yeah totally the same. I didn’t have huge amounts of pre recorded tapes though. I kinda got my first music when my dad had a turntable in the late 80s but my own first player was a CD ghetto blaster in the early 90s. Also unless it was like a huge favourite and my dad picked it up for me as a treat albums were absolutely only Christmas and birthday presents!

This is the part of the Spiritualized discography were I have to question do I REALLY need this one?
you do! it's got some classic Spiritualized tunes on it, Rated X, Lay it Down Slow, Lord Let it Rain on Me, Hold On. A good mix of slow and fast tunes.
I think you can still find copies of the 2014 pressing (that I own and that sounds fine) for around $20. It’s not the best Spiritualized album but it’s still a really good album. A bit back to basics.
I have this really stupid EP box kind of thing that has 3 EPs of the album and a box. I'm tempted to buy this because I never listen to this album on LP since it's a PITA getting it out of the box and changing discs 3 times.
