Speaking of which, my wife and her co-workers have been getting into this band and even listening to them at work. Does anybody have any recommendations on a good starting point if we were to buy any of their stuff on vinyl?

That album which is their debut, ironically called “Return of the Durutti Column” and its follow up “LC” are the best entry points. Factory Benelux have pretty nice modern vinyl versions available. After that it’s a deep and varied catalogue that’s well worth a dive into.

This is correct though all the 80’s albums are really quite good. Vini Reilly is a hell of guitar player. Played on the first Morrissey solo album too.

Yeah he did some great work on Viva Hate and a few of the early singles. The guitar on “Late Night, Maudlin Street” is pretty special.
