Pre-Order Thread

More often than not, ten dollar shipping equates media mail. What’s funny is often times the pricier options seem to be at a bit of a loss.

It’s also worth pointing out in this scenario that us Americans are used to an extraordinarily low shipping cost and that what we find outrageous would be reasonable to others.

I'll never forget when the first mbv remaster that came out in 2018 was being sold at their webstore and so many people were refusing to buy it because shipping from there was starting at $20. and like $20 for international shipping??? that's not even a bad prize imo.

No it’s not I’ve sold records from Ireland to the states and $20 is less that I as a person can send a record for by a lot. And if I remember that first batch in 2018 was self released, it was the later press that domino handled.

I held out for awhile for US distribution but eventually bit the bullet. Even still they eventually struck a deal with Domino which had a bigger international presence and for those that missed out initially, they were able to pick up a copy in the US without international shipping if they so chose.

Yeah I think the us issue was that back in the day he had separate labels because creation were very much an indie and didn’t do outside Europe. Whereas when creation imploded in a haze of oasis’ cocaine the rights went to Sony and then eventually reverted to him I think there is still a different label that holds his North American rights so he can’t release there himself or strike a distribution deal with someone like domino to do it.

Funny I bought one last year that described it as basically getting all the part used barrels of PVC pellets and throwing them in together. I suppose like all things in this hobby there aren’t really industry terms, people just use terms how they want to themselves!

When I was involved in having records pressed, what you described was called "random color" on the form. Just a bunch of leftover pellets of who knows what colors, and maybe it will turn out cool, or maybe like mud.

Most places tended to price random color the same as a black pressing.
