Don’t care for the Power of Zeus. I just got a black copy of the Skull Snaps mr bongo reissue in the mail for $18 shipped its amazing. Not familiar with the incredible bongo band but at this point it’d be the only one of these I would consider picking up. My guess on the bundle price would be like $90 with reach selling for $33 individually. We should take over/under bets.

You'll definitely recognize the Incredible Bongo Band when you hear it.

Yeah it’s in Fucking TIAA Creff commercials it makes me wanna look over my retirement portfolio I don’t know if that should be the intended goal for a hard funk song. it’s good but I think the heavy commercialism has blunted it’s fangs a bit unfortunately.

Well, to be fair, the entire point of this bundle is that they are some of the most sampled releases in history. They've all been used to death. Apache was sampled like crazy, so there are endless old hip hop tracks that come to mind before any random commercial -- for me, at least -- and which used it well before that. They're not Moby out there trying to piece out every track on their album to advertising agencies. People just stole their shit. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if Moby stole their shit at one point or another.

Hmmm... That sounds like a deal. Someone may want to....

Ah ha! That’s it too it’s the break beat from Hometown hero Sir Mix-a-lots Jock Jam Anthem. On a completely unrelated note I recently acquired a copy of “Swass” on casette tape so if you hear a ‘91 Subee bumping hard beats... it’s probably not me cuz my stock speakers kinda suck.

I wouldn't say it's "completely unrelated." Drive up to Dicks and park with the doors open

I’m really looking forward to this one based on the first single alone.

Normally, I am not one to be on the up and up when it comes to new music preorders. I wanted to share one with you I discovered and I hope that it hasn't been posted.

I recently preordered an album from a band called Beach Bunny. It's a lofi, indie girl rock kind of band but, kind of dreamy. I was listening to it and then a group called Lunar Vacation popped up. Really kind of dreamy but the lyrics are still really angsty. It's like Alvvays and think of a more poppy Soccer Mommy. Both their EPs are being pressed on vinyl for the first time.

It is with great pride that we celebrate this milestone with you. This, Daptone’s 100th 45rpm release, features an unprecedented collaboration of talent from our legendary roster of artists.

What started as an ambitious thank you to you, our beloved fans, has now also become a loving tribute to the brothers and sister we've lost since its inception: Charles Bradley, Dan Klein, Cliff Driver, and our eternal Queen, Miss Sharon Jones. So, thank you, friends, for all the years you've helped us to "Keep Putting Soul Up." May this disc forever live as a token of our gratitude, and keepsake of the times when our departed loved ones shared the stage with us.

Available June 28th. Pre-order the DELUXE DAPTONE FAMILY EDITION of this momentus 45, only available from the Daptone shop. Be the only kid on the block to own Daptone's 100th on an EXCLUSIVE, LIMITED EDITION, DIE-CUT PICTURE DISC in the shape of the classic Daptone Records logo. Comes with extensive liner notes and includes a copy of the standard black 45 dressed in acustom Daptone 45 sleeve (one for the ball, one for the wall!) + a folded 24x36 movie-style poster featuring all 100 45s.

Pre-Order Now

Neat!

You guys might appreciate this. My copy of Daptone 45 #1 that I got signed by Sharon at a small show in Montreal in 2005. Decided to frame it when she passed. Only met her the once but she was extremely generous with all the fans that stayed after the show.
