Pre-Order Thread

No. There is no story. He just left.
I feel like Indy got burned out from the political thread. It seems like things got a bit heated there and he had enough. I miss him and hope he decides to come back for an occasional check in at the very least but I can appreciate the decision to jump off. There is no reason to stick around if you’re not enjoying yourself. He is good people.

Wait, there's a N&G political thread? Thank God, I've avoided that one. Collecting vinyl is polarizing enough! ✌🏻

I got burned out from the political thread and the covid thread during the lockdown. Stepped away from the forum for like 6 months. So I get it in a way.
I’ve ducked in and out of it, fortunately it’s there if I need it and easy to avoid if I don’t. I haven’t seen where anybody lets what happens there escape those threads, which is greatly appreciated.

Nemahsis's album Verbathim dropped just now - a rare Sunday drop. It's expensive, like $48 (with shipping) to states. After being dropped by her record label my understanding is she's doing all this solo now, with her own representation. Stated on social media that the first 300 records purchased will be signed. Stick of Gum was one of my top tracks of 2024, and the whole album is great indie pop.

Prices on site are in CAD, so when you go to check out, they are a bit less for US customers. So the $50 turns into $40, and then $8 shipping is added.

Only two vinyl presses. The economics of running any small business can be daunting. You need to bring in a lot of $$$s to actually clear a profit. You need to be prepared to go mths with little or no profit in the downtimes. Sometimes working long days and still taking money out of savings to clear the monthly overhead. It can be done but it isn’t the freedom and independence from working for “the man” many people envision. Hopefully, a lot of these small to midsize vinyl plants will find a profitable sliver of the market and survive. As we know, the biggest plants don’t necessarily produce the best quality.

The last line in the article says it all. Still, when it works it is a beautiful thing.

They pressed a lot of New West Records stuff and I thought they did a pretty good job to be honest but yeah so many big plants these days and lot of the little ones will get squeezed out. Didn’t realize GZ had a plant in Nashville.

So in theory, a business like a record club should have no problem getting orders fulfilled timely with all the excess plant capacity, versus the delays of a few years ago. Is that a reasonable assumption?
