The “first press” was a Rhino reissue in 2010 - no vinyl in ‘93 that I’m aware of. No great shakes there, aside from the RTI manufacturer. Certainly not enough to tag it for over $100, particularly when it’s Rhino doing it again at 1/5th the price. Originals are dropping, only in the sense that they sat at $120+ for quite awhile. The last reissues of ND and even the ND outtakes were solid, so I’m feeling pretty good about this.Is there a reason the reissue of this on clear is preferred over the OG? I know it’s “remastered” but was thE 1st press unlistenable for some reason?
Barring serious quality issues, I prefer to collect the 1st press. If there are OGs flooding the market, maybe I’ll snag one while I can.
Was Anodyne recorded to tape? I wonder what the status is on the master. The “first press” was a Rhino reissue in 2010 - no vinyl in ‘93 that I’m aware of. Don’t quote me on this, but I’m about 99% positive it wasn’t an analog master. Was Anodyne recorded to tape? I wonder what the status is on the master.
EDIT: I was looking at the wrong thing, it's only $15... but I'm leaving in Wayne. It's a 12" EP. Only 4 tracks it seems. I'm in the same boat as you. Already out of storage space and I won't spin a 4 track album enough.
$30? Are you outside the us?Yeah, $30+ for a 4 track EP?
I hate how good it sounds, though.

Oh shit! I was looking at the T-Shirt bundle!Looks like "Somewhere Outside Atlanta" lol
Wish I'd known this would happen. Could have saved $15. Oh well, if anyone deserves my money, it's the Sad.View attachment 24777
The Twilight Sad - Killed My Parents and Hit The Road - LP+
The Twilight Sad release Killed My Parents And Hit The Road on vinyl for the first time. With the majority of tracks mixed and mastered by Iain Cook of Aerogramme, Killed My Parents And Hit The Road encompasses the bands’ bare, unfeigned use of melancholy with rousing, epic intensity, never...www.roughtrade.com
Price is my reason. I don't have any desire to own original presses vs. represses. I'm in it for the music alone and I'm no audiophile so unless a repress is very bad, I'll go with the more economical option. I'd rather pay 20 for an Anodyne repress than $70+ for an OG pressing.
No shade to those who feel/collect differently.
But they're both reissues. There isn't an original press. Might even be a repress of the same plates. We'll see.No shade perceived.
My rationale is typically "I have this on CD and a digital version" do I really NEED a color Vinyl/reissue copy - Answer No. But an OG Vinyl copy of one of my favorite albums....that might be a different answer.
But I would rather pay $20 too. Maybe the reissue will drive down the market price enough to make me pull out the credit card.
Thanks.
Well - that's an argument that might sway me towards a purchase. Thanks @CorycmThe “first press” was a Rhino reissue in 2010 - no vinyl in ‘93 that I’m aware of. There’s been a bunch of buzz about this. If for no other reason Neil has been talking about basically a whole other album from the sessions.Same. I’m seeing a lot of Neil Young’s Ragged Glory too so hopefully that on is in the works too.
