Pre-Order Thread

So- this thread is populated so I'm going to ask your throughts

My preorder of Amoeba's white vinyl of Flying Lotus- Flamara arrived today and as I carried the box into my kitchen on this lovely 94 degree spring day in Alabama, the back of the box still felt hot to the touch. Not good.

Opening the package and after admiring the handsome jacket, my fears were confirmed. Maybe the worst eye- test warp I had ever seen. Being that this was a limited variant preorder that is long sold out, I decided to cautiously spin this on my table to see if looks were worse than sound.

The white vinyl spun and swayed and rippled...hell it looked like it was STILL melting. I dropped the needle and you could hear an audible -thump thump- when it spun around..but yet, as side 1 played, there was no discernible distortion and the needle never jumped the groove, no skips (played at 1.5 weight).

So here is my thing- do I contact Amoeba and file a return on a record that flew across the country and partially melted in the Southern heat? Would another just do the same thing? Is it worth sending back? Does it even hold value as a collectible anymore?

If this was amazon or a big box, I wouldn't care. But an indie, I'm conflicted on how responsible I should hold them, but at the same time I have a disfigured record.

Never feel bad about contacting for a refund.

They would probably report it back to the label

Ask for a replacement copy to see if they held any back for damages. And if so maybe request post office to hold your packages to prevent it being left outside in the heat?

An "indie" big enough to have their own exclusive. I'd probably contact them to see if they had a replacement, but I'm shady like that. It's probably not the "right" thing to do.

Regardless of what you do, you need to find a way to fix this problem in general. I live in Seattle and it's not as hot, but when it is, the sun shines directly on my front door. I have a big coleman cooler out front with a message on it asking to have my packages placed in there, because of this very reason. Some people still don't listen. I won a Dr John and Meters set and they melted like that on my doorstep, so I had to come up with a solution. This was it. My mailman knows me, so he's helpful in that respect. Plus, he's a record collector -- I ordered him a copy of Sister Gertrude last month, as a surprise thank you, but it hasn't arrived yet. You can also sign up for USPS informed delivery for free and they'll let you know when something is arriving. They'll email you scans of your letters everyday, along with tracking on what's showing up that day. From there, you can leave detailed instructions about where you want them to leave you packages. Maybe something like that would help

That's what I did. We will see what they say. On another note, how about that guy that cursed you out on reddit? lol I got a shot in at him but he never replied. What a goon

I just saw that. He's HEATED! I ruined his entire day, apparently, because he's floating around commenting on everyone's posts and just getting downvoted through the ground. He even went into my account, because he responded to me on a different post. What kind of loon takes it upon themselves to defend a company against people linking to the FAQ section? He's got to be a teenager and a frustrated one. That's some of the most incoherent "writing" I've ever read.

I mean I think it's pretty obvious you have found Matt Fiedler's reddit account lol

Brother Duke, I feel your Bama sun pain. I recommend you get a PO box and have your vinyl delivered there.

I've posted a couple of photos on Instagram criticizing VMP, including the one I posted today about cancelling my membership. Of course, it's posted in the comments of a photo featuring one of VMP's exclusives. Anyway, Cam has liked both of those photos and I don't think he even follows me on there.

He's telling you he's not shaken. You don't phase him, bruh
