Spun my Sticky Fingers half speed a couple times. Idk I think it’s okkkkkkkk?

That’s kinda how all modern presses of the stones pest-decca records are. The possible exception is the abbey 1/2 speed of Exile with the obi and certificate, it’s really good, If still mastered/pressed a llittle hot. I have the 2015 one with the zip and it’s the same, it’s definitely not bad but I can’t give it a ringing endorsement!

Glad it’s not just me that thought the 2015 was a bit limp ... the original pressings are worth tracking down imo ..most of them can be found quite cheap .. except for Sticky Fingers!

To be fair, Sticky Fingers isn’t a particularly great sounding record in the first place. I think US originals are probably the best, but I’ve had several and none of them are fantastic.
That makes me feel better. I am by no means the authority on how great a record sounds. If something really sounds fantastic I can usually spot it, but in between awful and incredible is a little more muddy for me.

this one just didn’t jump out to me, by no means awful, just pretty good. And I had some scratchy surface noise so I’m replacing it anyway.

Does anyone know which metal these used?

Hm just guessing here, but the last OJC release for Waltz was in 2011, so I'd guess whatever metal they used for that? Probably the original 80s master if I had to keep pulling shit out of my ass, but the OJC sourcing and mastering info has always been pretty opaque to me. I might grab Debby just because I don't have a copy already, and if it's not bad, I'll grab Portrait as well. Doubt these will sell out anytime soon.

Anyone receive their Haley Williams box set yet? Got shipping notice 2 weeks ago and didn’t update for a week and now another week where tracking says “acceptance pending” or something like that.

Yup, mine came in Thursday. I got the email it shipped on the 15th (I think), is that when you got yours? I've got multiple things that are stuck in some kind of mail limbo right now so it might just be stuck somewhere temporarily

While the wrong forum for this...the sacds from, umm, long ago have been my best sounding for the stones. I bit on the sticky fingers, haven't played it yet... But wouldn't surprise me if it wasn't great :-(

Same with mine. And it happened with my Dua Lipa box too (also shipped from WB). Problem is they ship via UPS mail innovations, but only give the usps number so it doesnt update until it reaches them, and then takes another few days for the handover. Mine just changed to “package accepted” yesterday.

A few of the reissues from this series (saxophone Colossus) used the Analogue Productions, and it's ends up being one of the only inexpensive was to find them now...

I think the SACDs were just the Decca stuff that Klien still controls? I had a few and they did sound really good. That said the vinyl reissued of that stuff aren’t terrible either, it’s the later stuff in their own label that sounds crap in my experience. From sticky fingers onwards I’ve only seen Japanese SHM SACDs for the Stones stuff and they cost an absolute bomb!
