Oof, I guess I didn't scroll far enough to see that "feature" 😂 - I really don't get who this is targeted to then. Audiophiles who don't mind non-fill and warps, have no experience with Herbie at all, and, after presumably becoming a fan, don't mind spending another couple hundred bucks to buy all of the essential albums you'll like more than the random catalog titles included here?

It's targeted at people with disposable income who like the idea of being "eclectic" vinyl collectors and blindly trust VMP implicitly to achieve that for them on autopilot. Their target demographic

I mean, aside from Fiona and the occasional QOTSA/White Stripes-level release, you summed up their entire business model. The De La Soul-ish releases are the bait & everything else is the switch.

Not that I haven’t been suckered in on occasion...

That's why the forum and community they cut out was the heart of that company. Anyone who wants to really delve into other territories beyond whatever they are already familiar with, or get suggestions to expand on things they already know they enjoy, all have each other as resources in any direction.

It’s one of my favorite parts of the VMP Anthology—learning from everyone on here which albums I should actually buy from an artist’s or label’s discography. And saving some money in the process too.
