GRANDADDY REPRESS!!!!!

“One night in June of 1999, we were sitting in Jason’s tiny house in Modesto, California when he mentioned that he could sit down at the piano and play the whole of what would be The Sophtware Slump front to back. This meant he was (finally!) ready to begin recording. The piano was in the kitchen then so we sat and he started to play. Distracted by beer and conversation, we didn’t make it all the way through.

Early last year, as we discussed if we should commemorate the 20th anniversary I recalled the memory and wondered what the album would have sounded like before all that wonderful production, before one note had been committed to tape.

Today we announce The Sophtware Slump…..on a wooden piano. Recorded at Jason Lytle's home during Pandemia 2020. It will arrive digitally November 20 on Dangerbird Records and as part of a four piece vinyl boxset of the original album and most of the b-sides and odds and ends from that era, many appearing on vinyl for the first time here. And a standalone physical release to follow in early 2021. Pre-order here: @Grandaddy | Linktree

Wishing you all as much health and happiness as you can muster during this often trying time.

With love from Jim, Jason, Aaron and Tim. And Kevin.”
Per dangerbird, there are "only a few dozen still available" of The Sophtware Slump 20th Anniversary Collection set:

If anyone was waiting for some cheaper standard black of those Chet Baker Craft re-offerings, they're up at Bullmoose (+ 1 more) and about $10 cheaper than VMP

This makes me wonder what the pressing was limited to, because it wasn't listed as a limited pressing, as far as I know. The Deluxe that sold out pretty quickly was no doubt limited the number of signed booklets that were part of that package.

Thanks for the update. It's worth noting that the tri-color version of The Sophtware Slump ..... on a wooden piano is also still available. That said, no idea how many are left.

Love these two but prices on these ($75 cheapest option for limited vinyl due to bundling) is a bit over the top. Basically adding $45 for a signature with no unsigned option. Hopefully, the preorder limited version vinyl will be unbundled.
That's just silly!

I want this but damn. The limited pressing is just insanely priced. I'm going to have to pass cause RSD happened.

Good looking out.

I am going to hold out to try and land SS standalone down the road. You cop one?

Take this with a grain of salt from a massive Grandaddy fan who throws hyperbole on them with ease, but I just gotta say - these two extra records of B-sides make this worth it. In my opinion those extra records include some of their best work, as this was such an amazingly creative time for them. I'd been eying the 2LP 2011 press with just some of those bsides for years on discogs, which was always too expensive for me. This is also expensive! - it's the most I've spent on a single vinyl purchase - but Grandaddy is a top 5 all-time band for me, and getting all this music at $20/LP made me go for it.

New Charles Webster single from his forthcoming album. Includes a Burial remix of the track "The Spell" which had leaked on the net a long time ago but is finally coming out.

Also the preorder itself for the full album. Burial co-produced the song "The Second Spell" on the album too.

So far I can only get these through Bandcamp which is really expensive. If anyone can help and find another place that has cheaper shipping please post it. I checked Juno Records and Red Eye Records and they do not have these on there. Yet...
