Go on, geezer.
I splurged for ze bundle.
I do the same thing. I usually listen to what everyone gets hyped on, but it's incredibly rare that I end up buying it. I try to only buy albums I want to listen to. I have no plans on flipping anything (regardless of how much they appreciate in value) I just think it's cool that some times our tastes overlap, and some times I'm an outlier. As much as I listen to and try to keep up with current bands and artists, there's still so much out there that I've never even heard of.Counterpoint: I've vowed to only buy records that I'm really really excited to spin. I cut out the fat, and I can afford to pay "flipper-ish" prices and still save money. You all make that really really difficult, but I shall remain strong.

Old bluegrass session stuff of his, for anyone similarly confused.This is, um, fun I guess, but basically incomprehensible.
Also: "thies?"
Sorry, I wasn’t clear at all. Yes, I believe that you’re right.Oh yeah! Sorry, I meant I get the concept, it's the recording when you call the phone number itself that is impossible to understand. I catch a couple of words here and there, but mostly it's just a wall of noise.
Edit: and wait, this is "old" sessions, or new bluegrass sessions reworking old stuff? I thought it was the latter.
Currently, I go with the listen on digital first, if I can. But with new releases and FOMO my curation goes through this analysis in an effort to keep my bank account out of the red, but with the 30th year Anniversary of 1991 releases on the horizon...things could get bloody in the next year nonetheless:I do the same thing. How's that Wilco ax working out?Currently, I go with the listen on digital first, if I can. But with new releases and FOMO my curation goes through this analysis in an effort to keep my bank account out of the red, but with the 30th year Anniversary of 1991 releases on the horizon...things could get bloody in the next year nonetheless:
- Is this a previously released album that is personally essential/important?
- IF YES, go to #3;
- IF NO, do not buy
- Is this a new release that might be personally essential/important in the future?
- IF YES, go to #3;
- IF NO, do not buy
- Is the vinyl edition I am contemplating a 1st Press/Ltd. Variant or Must have Press (e.g. a mobile fidelity press; unique box set):
- IF YES, go to #4,
- IF NO, do not buy
- Is this vinyl crazy expensive right now or might I get it for a better price later:
- IF NO, BUY IT
- IF YES, go to #5
- Is this a Wilco/Wilco-adjacent release?:
- IF YES, fuck it...fuck the cost...BUY IT;
- IF NO (go back to 1 and 2 and reassess just to be sure and otherwise maybe get digital if you dont already have it, and wait till you can get the desired pressing at a reasonable price)
Hope you don’t mind if I print this out and attach it to my credit cardCurrently, I go with the listen on digital first, if I can. This is the correct system and if everyone were to employ these steps then we'd probably have far less $50 and up single LP releases.Currently, I go with the listen on digital first, if I can. I'm glad to see you agree that Wilco is the only Modern Essential money is no object purchase.This is the correct system and if everyone were to employ these steps then we'd probably have far less $50 and up single LP releases.
I'd also add here to never settle on paying flipper prices. Most everything I've thought about buying at those rates on Discogs end up coming back down or getting a reissue or sorts to bring it back down. Release yourself from the gotta have it now mentality and go listen to what you do have.
Its a joy to own.How's that Wilco ax working out?
Its a joy to own.
I hope the next Wilco album is just a greatest hits but the album art is a play on the "Now" series and it's called Now That's What I Call Wilco! I'd support #5 for that.I'm glad to see you agree that Wilco is the only Modern Essential money is no object purchase.
That warms my heart.
Ragret is taking a record you bought for $20 to your local only for them to say they don't want it so then you're forced to give it away or keep it for the rest of your miserable existence.You cowards. Buy everything so you have your regret to accompany you into the darkness.
