Record Store Day 2022

Quite restrained for me this year ..just the 8 titles ..1 7 inch (Noel G) , 2 x CDs (both the Bowie’s ), 2 12 inches (U2 and Madonna) and 3 albums (Blur , Stones and Sandy Denny) ...still nearly £200 worth ! I got 7 full album items from the used bin in comparison for £50 ..RSD is not cheap

Didn't get up early today for RSD. Showed up 2 hours after opening, and lucked out with 3 of the 4 titles I was after. Ended up grabbing the last copies of each. Missed out on the other Bill Evans title, but I'll find that online, I'm sure.

Haven't listened to them all yet, but this Pepper Adams release is likely going to be the highlight for me. Sounds incredible, but wouldn't expect anything less from Kevin Gray (@MikeH definitely worth tracking down). The baritone is rich and drums are crisp. Only complaint is my copy Side B is somewhat bowled, but tracks well. Not sure where it was pressed.

Whoops, I spent more than I intended. Was it worth waiting in line for 9 hours? Probably not:

Akiko and DJ Krush are the only actual RSD Japan releases. "First Collection" is a compilation put together by Nujabes (RIP) while Sugar Plant is a Japanese dream-pop band that I've been a fan of for about 20 years. Headlights is their newest album and just came out on vinyl last month.

The Herbie Hancock is what will probably hold up the order as it's currently out of stock but they expect to have more copies in over the next week or so. It's a South Korean-exclusive pressing, so it's an import of an import.

About $150 for the entire order, shipping included.

As it turns out there is a little record store here in town. I decided around ten I'd drive over and humor myself with the leftovers. It just so happens the store wasn't opening until eleven. I was fourth in line behind three young ladies all there for Taylor Swift (and a few other things).

He had two of what I was after and I promised the ladies I'd add Taylor to my listening rotation after getting a breakdown of all things Swift.

No luck on Art Pepper (was going to snag for anyone here). If I had Scrooge McDuck money I would have grabbed Everlast, The Doors, The Cure and a few others. Still extremely pleased with my haul.

I had no idea that Hancock record was part of RSD. I only really went over the US list. I may need to track that down…

Got one of my wants and grabbed two others from my random list. Sad I missed out on the Kittie album. They didn't get many copies of it. Guess I'll have to wait until online sales happen or if people here see it somewhere else.PXL_20220423_153403156.jpgPXL_20220423_153358132.jpgPXL_20220423_150325653.jpg

I also got a free shirt and lighter from the weed store next door lol.

Oh, just to be clear, it's not a Record Store Day release. That screenshot is both RSD and non-RSD stuff I got from HMV Japan. It's a South Korean exclusive, however, pressed at Pallas.

Already going for 100+ on Discogs, and someone has paid 125. 😒 I'd love a copy but not at those prices. Says it's a RSD First release so hopefully cheaper option will arrive at some point.
