Record Store Day 2024

@Bohnjaggs asking about PM Dawn convinced me to pick it up when I went to my last spot today. This shit is silky smooth
PM Dawn's first album The Utopian Experience (which was just recently added to streaming) is maybe my most played album ever, and their second one The Bliss Album isn't too far behind. Both perfect as far as I'm concerned.

I already had both of those on vinyl. The one released today is their third record and it's not as good but has some of their best songs.

Popped into Disk Union in Shinjuku yesterday, plenty of Japanese RSD items (none of which I had a clue about) and plenty of Bill Evan’s too. Didn’t pick any up as was only potentially interested in the Gorillaz release.

They put the RSD releases in amongst the general stock, by category, on the ground floor so it was pretty tricky to see what they had in totality!

I hit the 3rd floor full of jazz and picked up a few bits as a non-RSD present for myself.

Had a really great time today hanging out in line chatting music, having morning beers and mimosas and chatting more music, talking and thanking the great staff at The Record Pub and Exiled Records in Portland, and oh yeah bought a few more records than planned. If they all sound like this Fleet Foxes it’ll be a cherry on top. Today was why I love record store day.

First time I have gone out for RSD in a long time. I know it's a pain in the ass but there is something that I find fun about it. Just had too much work going on this weekend and there weren't any must haves on the list for me. There were a few "it would be nice to haves" that I'm hoping In can pick up fairly easily. Hope everyone got what the needed this time around.

Can we make a list of when shops drop their leftovers online?

Plaidroom is 7 am CST
1234 Go is 7am CST

Anyone know for Bullmoose or Zia? Amoeba?
I got an email from Luna: 7AM CST at this link:

yea, even though I didn't do the regular waiting line line as thing as I've done in previous years, it was still cool to show up to my local with bunch of nice, friendly people enthusiastic about music. during my crate-digging in the morning, I eavesdropped a couple of guys who I assume were high school seniors or recent graduates talking about which records to get and how stoked they were that they got the young thug vinyl, I could not help but be reminded of myself years back when my high school buddy and I did our first RSD spree together. very cool!

Hi-Voltage RSD Online sales start at 7PM PDT tomorrow.

My local had quite a few Guided By Voices records on the wall that I had to really talk myself out of. Although I talked someone into buying The Keene Brothers record for $190 without even hearing it. 😳

If it makes you feel better I bought the dirty heads which was $100 for 4 discs. Disc 1 is the album, disc 2 is b sides, disc 3 is "lo-fi" and disc 4 is acoustic. Disc 2 through 4 all have etchings on them. Soooo not the smartest buy but, it's rsd fuck it
