I’m listening right now and this pressing is underwhelming to me. Sounds muddy and the instruments feel buried. Could be a little brighter so those treble knobs could be handy.

I’m curious if anyone hears it the same or different. Please share 😊

No judgment either way but did you reach out to secretly to let them know and if so did they say to just keep?
I have not...now I'm feeling judged.
I guess if I HAVE TO DAD... I will. ;)

Seriously - I typically side with the little guys in the struggle against Corporate America, but in this case maybe it costs the little guy in the long run so its a good idea.

no judgement for sure! I honestly was just hoping you were going to say they told you to keep it because I can't be hassled to go to a post office

I mostly wrote to confirm they don't have two active accounts for me - I converted my 3 month to a 6 month to get the SVE and Japanese Breakfast and the way they had me do it was to buy another subscription and apply a discount code so it looks like I have an active active 6 month account and an active canceled 3 month on my profile

I've gotten accidental doubles from them twice (Richard Swift and Claud) and I reached out to them both times and they told me to keep them both times.

I got my Dinosaur Jr. yesterday but I've had to work overtime the last few days so I haven't gotten a chance to listen to it yet (I love working IT for a healthcare company during a pandemic, it's super fun! 😞). I am excited to get to put it on tonight.

Glad I'm not the only one who felt this. Spun this yesterday and was pretty underwhelmed. Feel like it's production choices coupled with pressing maybe? The first track especially is just mud and midrange, and not in a good Dino Jr way to my ear. It got better I thought (maybe I just got higher), and somehow the Lou tracks felt the best!? Anyways, my system ain't high end, but I really was struggling to enjoy the music through the sound :/

I feel like on the first track the drums are way too low. It sounds like an FM radio concert broadcast.

Yeah, it doesn’t feel like a pressing issue, but more the production/mastering. I was running it pretty loud and it was clean, just buried. Almost like some of the old Bob Mould albums where he absolutely buries the vox but in reverse. But I don’t think this one pulls it off. It doesn’t come across fuzzy or low-fi, just muddy.

I said to my wife that I didn’t know how often I would spin it because the sound wasn’t allowing me to enjoy the music. But I felt that the album started to take off with I Ran Away. I’ll probably play it some more now that I’ve let my head accept the flaws and I did enjoy the Lou songs!

It's also flat. And unfortunately I'm talking about in sound quality. ☹️.
Yeah, not the production choices I’d have made. Everything is right on top of each other.
I'll be interested to stream it on Friday to see if sounds the same.

Spun mine a couple of times now.

Granted I'm running a Late 70's Sony TT and 1978 Yamaha CR-220 Receiver with wired speakers. But I'd called the sound "pressed". "Flat" describes it too. Particularly, the low end/bass.

I played around with the "Loudness" and which, withe the appropriate adjustments to Bass/Treble - can improve on some issues. But even that isn't' "filling out" the sound the way I think the arrangements want to be.

Love the songs...the production not so much.

Edit: I get particularly distracted by the production on what I believe is the the open high-hat on "and me" (1st song side B).
To me it sounds like steam being released: "SSSST - SSSST." It's distracting.

It’s... ummm... possible... that J can’t hear shit anymore, which might explain why Lou’s songs sound better-produced.

Y'all, welcome to the world of Jagjaguwar Records. Cheap but shitty sounding LP's has been their calling card for over a decade at this point. These are the people responsible for ruining the Bon Iver s/t

Edit: I don't even think it's the production. I almost guarantee the digital version dropping soon will sound better.

And every Angel Olsen pressing...

Looks like I have 17 releases from the label. I’ll have to revisit them. I don’t recall Black Mountain’s IV sounding like that.
