Spinning my new records...

Automagik "Fluorescent Nights" (this is really hitting the spot right now - love it!)

Coastal Club "Shake You/Make It By" (bonus! very fun... liked both sides, but I'm drawn to the B side a little more)

Thanks for sharing those vinyl! I'm so proud of that FN LP. Automagik really turned out some insane tunes on that one. Their previous LP, Goldmine we did together was great too. But I think I like FN better.

We're hard at work to give you lots of great tunes in the back part of 2020.
Here is what is in our pipeline...

Frontier Folk Nebraska / William Matheny Split Single 45 vinyl purchase details!

Soul Step Records is proud to announce the release of our newest release since the record pressing plants re-opened with a split single from Frontier Folk Nebraska & William Matheny! This collaboration brings two exciting new singles from these great artists that have been putting out amazing midwestern music over the past couple of years.

Frontier Folk Nebraska have been crafting their unique brand of Americana Midwest Rock over the years, opening up for the likes of Drive-By Truckers, St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Jason Isbell and many more. “Blackhorse” was recorded March 11, 2019 in Water Valley, MS at Dial Back Sound Studios while on tour through the South. An historic studio that has captured the sounds of legendary blues artists for Fat Possum and is currently helmed by master engineer Bronson Tew and Drive By Truckers bass man, Matt Patton.

The B-Side features William Matheny, hailing from Morgantown, West Virginia. Rolling Stone Magazine calls William “Cerebral Alt Country from an unusually versatile singer.” He has a combination of heartland rock, Americana, and a keen ear for lyrics. Subtle and straightforward at the same time, “Mind For Leaving” will be a song you find yourself humming to for the rest of the day. We are excited to release a track from this up and coming singer/songwriter.

Soul Step Records will be releasing this split single from Frontier Folk Nebraska and William Matheny to Soul Step Record Subscribers on Saturday, July 11th. The general public sale will begin on Monday, July 13th. There will be a limited to 100 PEACOCK TEAL vinyl variant in addition to the standard black vinyl.

Limited edition vinyl will go on sale on Saturday, July 11th to Soul Step Subscribers at 1PM EST. The general public sale will be on Monday, July 13th, or immediately following a sellout.

And ordered!

I'm VERY open to seeing where our relationships with both FFN and William Matheny and where it might grow. Cara Louise is another great one too. I haven't thought about the rest of that particular EP - but I never write anything off. But you hit on what I love most about doing this work - helping introduce great artists to the world! They need our support more than ever while they cannot tour.

Right now we've got seven releases at the plant, and three more in the contract phase.

Needless to say - hoping COVID doesn't rise and shut the plants down again - because I feel like we have such a great offering of releases for the back end of 2020. Some really nice ones to share.

We're so pumped about this Emily Nenni release coming up!

If you love Margo Price, Loretta Lynn, that classic Nashville Country sound - you will LOVE this release.

Can't wait. That Wax Mage is beautiful but with how quick they go I don't even think I'm going to try, I'll just try for the Blue Jean variant (which is also really damn nice).
