Speaker Porn

For $130,000 USD I'll just hire Boris Blank for a monthly residency in my livingroom.
So agree. For my last milestone birthday, my wife hired a jazz trio to come play in our house while we had a private chef make and serve dinner.

The best birthday present I *ever* got and convinced me that live jazz at home is a far better value than a gazillion dollar stereo system.

Oh, for comparison, my gift from her on my last birthday was tickets to a local middle school musical. How things change…

I'm always curious though, how much room these open baffle speakers need to sound good.
I’d say “plenty” of room. I like open baffles, but never have had a room that would work well for them. Andrew Robinson reviewed the Decware Zen Master and mentioned he needed at least 30” from the back of the speaker to the wall, but didn’t mention sidewalls. My KEF’s are 42” from the wall behind them, but are narrow so I can “squeeze” them into a location a decent amount away from the closest sidewall. These Zen Master are something like 32-33” wide at their widest and probably still need 3’ or more to the sidewalls.

If I had the space though, I’d be all over these for that price. My brain keeps trying to find places in my house for them as it is.

Do my kids really need their own rooms…🤔
