Watched the first ep of The Viel last night. It is, well mid. We will give it another chance just because of Elizabeth Moss.
I was excited about until I read the reviews bummer. Euro Spy show with Elizabeth Moss sounded like a good time.Watched the first ep of The Viel last night. It is, well mid. We will give it another chance just because of Elizabeth Moss.
The best line so far was "the most American American has been sent from America"I was excited about until I read the reviews bummer. Euro Spy show with Elizabeth Moss sounded like a good time.
Same and same.Watched the first ep of The Viel last night. It is, well mid. We will give it another chance just because of Elizabeth Moss.
As much as I enjoyed Shogun I absolutely adored Ripley, definitely my favorite television so far this year. Finally started Ripely and it’s completely mesmerizing. It just sounds and looks like stunningly beautiful, Auteur level craftsmanship rarely seen on television. I wasn’t sure we necessarily needed another adaptation of The Talented Mr. Ripley but when it’s done this well, the answer is a resounding yes!
It feels like I’m watching high art in the best way possible. It’s definitely gonna towards the top of my list.As much as I enjoyed Shogun I absolutely adored Ripley, definitely my favorite television so far this year.
Ok, I'm sold. I need a new show since Shogun ended. We stalled on Slow Horses. It feels like I’m watching high art in the best way possible. It’s definitely gonna towards the top of my list.
We started it last night. I loved how economically it covered a lot of ground in 50 minutes, but I found the acting a little stiff. I have enjoyed Andrew Scott in everything I have seen him in, and I just found his performance a bit off. Idk maybe it's a choice I will get used to.Finally started Ripely and it’s completely mesmerizing. Don't give up on Slow Horses. S3 is pretty wild.Ok, I'm sold. I need a new show since Shogun ended. We stalled on Slow Horses.
Good to know...we loved S1 but for some reason S2 wasn't as compelling, but we only watched two episodes. We started it last night. S2 has been the weakest so far IMOGood to know...we loved S1 but for some reason S2 wasn't as compelling, but we only watched two episodes.
I feel like this is a choice. Ripley, the character is supposed to be a bit unsettling and awkward. There is a description in episode 3 or 4 where Marge is writing a letter to “Dickey” where she is basically saying that she thinks Ripley might be gay and in love with Dickey but says something along the lines that he seems too odd to have ever been in a relationship. I think he is supposed to come off as stiff and uncomfortable. We started it last night. I loved how economically it covered a lot of ground in 50 minutes, but I found the acting a little stiff. Here's a weird one:
In 2008 or early 2009, I was fresh outta film school right as the Recession hit. Typical of the underemployed in LA, I signed up to gig as an extra. This mostly involved seatfilling in live studio audiences and I guess wasn't very profitable because I gave it up pretty quickly. But my one on-camera gig was for a sci-fi comedy pilot being shot by the It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia crew. I didn't know much about it beyond the title, and while I'd google for it every now and then in the intervening 15 years, I never found it.
Until now.
Around timecode 11:20; I'm one of the space prisoners, the bald guy two to the right of the gum-chewer.

No, that’s Cutty from West Baltimore.Hey, it's Fred Johnson!
I have a friend who thought ep 1 of Ripley was pretty slow but she loved it in the end. I was all in from the get go so YMMV.We started it last night. S3 of Slow Horses was excellent! IMO, S2 is the worst (though I still enjoyed it)Good to know...we loved S1 but for some reason S2 wasn't as compelling, but we only watched two episodes.
