Television

I don't know how to really sell it...it's Ricky Gervais. You either like him or you don't.

See that’s the problem, I don’t like him ordinarily, bar his animals stand-up. But I adored After Life. So I’ll give Derek a shot. My wife loves his work so it’ll also suit her!

Loved the Mr Robot finale. I feel like it ended very fittingly, very on point with how I viewed the show: more as a character-driven story. It was emotional in the right places, heady a lot, but it ended so neatly that I feel watching this series all the way through now will hold up as a complete arc of a story. Wasn’t sure where the hell it was going to go, even in the final half of the last episode, but I’m very satisfied with it all. The surprises feel earned and important because I feel they’ve always been the plan since the beginning, so they hold up and make sense and should satisfy everyone who’s loved the show. No idea how it’s being generally received at the moment. I can imagine maybe some people being a little disappointed, but that’s on their expectations.

I'm glad they didn't go with any of the sci-fi theories.

Time travel and alternate dimensions would have been a odd way to go for a show that hasn't had any sci-fi elements.

Started watching The Witcher tonight. Loved the games. Action scenes were good, the rest....eh. I'll give it time to develop.

I've only played a little of the first one and a little more of the third one, and I've never read the books. But the TV show is kind of terrible. My wife and I are watching it, but mostly because we get a kick out of how much of a mess it is.

I loved the Mr Robot finale as well, it’s one of those endings that enriches the prior episodes as much as it closes the story out.

I’m glad to see a lot of critics and fans love it as well, mostly because of its adjacency to the controversial endings of LOST and Neon-Genesis Evangelion. All three finales ditch the sci-fi elements and lean into character resolution, played out in an alternate psychological environment. Mr Robot is probably the most graceful, sliding into it more smoothly than Eva, but not boring us with the alternate world like LOST did with the flash-sideways.

It’s just the right amount of exploration, and an incredible show of focus for a show that would sometimes wander. I can see now how this was intended to be a movie at first, a simple story of finding one’s self. Expanded to a full series its super impressive and was a joy to watch each week.

Anyone catch You Season 2? Binged it in a day and felt the acting and story was top notch. Less soap opera-y than last season, which allowed suspense to build up and gave the pay offs room to breathe. Great performances by the leads.

I binged it in a day as well. Yep, if you liked s1, you'll like s2. It is wild how much you root for the main character. Even though he is evil.

Yep. He has a certain set of rules that help him guide his delusional moral compass and it's just enough to keep you rooting for him. I love that they made a
Dexter
reference because there are quite a few parallels that can be drawn to both show's anti-hero.

It reminds me of Nurse Jackie also. They have very rigid internal compasses that make sense to them. But to the rest of us, WTF???? Lol

Is there a S3 planned?
