My mom as wellThis was my biggest failure as an owner of Beanie Babies
When records reach a certain value I often get scared of playing them because I don't want to damage them haha.Might as well strike when the aftermarket is this hot
I'm still not super clear on why this one is so desirable. Aren't most of these songs on more readily available albums? Are these earlier takes supposed to be better than the rerecordings that ended up on the more famous albums and comps that are more readily available? Like the US Funky Kingston and In The Dark. Genuinely ignorant, not being negative.Seriously. I saw that a little while back. I’m kind of surprised it hasn’t been reissued at all.

it's pretty much a greatest hits comp that has only been released by VMP and OG jamaican releases. Lots of OG Jamaican releases are A) hard to find in good shape and B) typically REALLY poor sounding. I agree its not worth that much, but it's a pretty rare record from a great band. I think it's the best compilation of theirs as well and I own Funky Kingston. Would I pay $200 for it? Nope. Would I love to own it? I think this is exactly why it’s so desirable. It’s not like this reissue is a revelation for the recordings. They sound like the late 60’s rocksteady/ska/early reggae recordings that they are. It’s just that the collection is perfect and it’s impossible to find an OG, especially in good condition. I do play the album quite often, probably more than the US Funky Kingston.it's pretty much a greatest hits comp that has only been released by VMP and OG jamaican releases. Well let me know if a repress to now I guessCool, let me know if you hear of a repress!
I've never loved nor hated the national, but my wife loves them. But from an investment standpoint their vinyl would really pay off right now. These were up for sale at about 15 bucks a piece two years ago at my local store.

They just reissued three of these with plain black and then fan club variants, so sadly I'm guessing the price on the older ones will drop since they will be widely available soon. Their fan base is huge though and there are definitely people who variant collect. Even the Cherry Tree members vinyl sells for a pretty penny.I've never loved nor hated the national, but my wife loves them. We have the VMP variant of Sad Songs. I think I paid $60 for it second hand. It's doubled in value since then. For every variant we have, only their latest seems to have decreased in value. About half have maintained value, while the other half are substantially more than they ever were. We could cover groceries for a couple weeks if we moved them all at median value.

Sadly for those who had the older variants and were happy about the value of them!Sadly?!?
I would say lucky for me is that we already have all of them, and I can't imagine my wife letting them go.Sadly for those who had the older variants and were happy about the value of them!
Great news for those of us who didn't have any I ordered all 3 and got copies for my buddy for his bday since he's a huge National fan.
