The Blue Note Thread

Are any of the remaining $25 Analogue Productions Blue Note 45s worth getting? I was eyeing those Lou Donaldson ones.

Definitely some gems there. Hub Cap and Up At Minton's are regarded as classics. I think that 3 sounds album is great, too. Lots of praise for Blowin' In From Chicago. It could be a function of how much output he had, but those Lou Donaldsons are my favorites. They are totally fine, but I'd look at some of the other albums. Maybe the John Patton if you like soul jazz?

Been curtailing the vinyl buying but went for this, couldn't help myself.
What’s the deal with this pressing? It says it’s a French import. Not sure what that means for quality. Was this reissued as a BN75? At any rate, it’s an album I’ve wanted to pick up but just never pull the trigger on. Original pressings are relatively affordable in the States at least.

It's done by LMLR apparently but don't have any first hand experience with their pressings.

Thanks. I bought Hub Cap, Up at Minton's and the The Time is Right.

Went to Face Records in Brooklyn for the first time today. @Dark Star Boogie —you would probably blow your life savings in here haha. Almost entirely Japanese pressings of albums. HUGE jazz section with tons of King BNs, prestige reissues, Three Blind Mice originals, Japanese Jazz, etc. I was good though and only picked up this one:

I spent some time browsing their Discogs shop the other day, I am glad I don't live in New-York :p For Europeans, please check Mion Records in Berlin. They have almost 80,000 records for sale, most are Japanese pressings and I found their price very fair.
