The Blue Note Thread

Now that the next round of BN Classics have been announced, I might just sell my Music Matters 45 copies of Adams Apple, Evolution, Point of Departure and Unity if anyone wants to pry them out of my hands.

Holding on to my original RVG Common Touch though!
I just bought Evolution a month or so ago of course. Should have known that as soon as I pay up for a copy it would come out as a BN Classic haha. It's a great sounding pressing though.

Common Touch is one of the few RVG Blue Notes I have

Effing finally. I’ve been waiting for a good, affordable reissue of this album for years now.
It will be nice to have Unity on vinyl for me to go with Into Somethin' which us one of my favorite 3 Hammond organ jazz albums.

Lots of talk online about Moon Rappin' (maybe because of what original copies go for) but it's just not hitting me from what I have sampled and I love Hammond and Brother Jack.

Debating whether I need Preach Brother Preach on vinyl over digital, I will likely relent at some point.

The George Braith is a real highlight, not too far out there, will be a good companion to the Cuscuna digital compilation set.

I'm also interested in both of the July releases:
  • Don Wilkerson – Preach Brother! (1962)
  • George Braith – Extension (1964)
I'm not familiar with either album, but Grant Green plays on both. Which has me intrigued.

I first discovered Braith a few years back and fell in love, I couldn't really believe how low key he kept considering how great his music is. I started with Soul Stream (drawn in by Grant Green) and later got Extension. I'm still holding out on Two Souls In One which would then complete the trio he released on Blue Note.

Really great that he is getting some cover. It got me thinking of other underappreciated artists that recorded for Blue Note which would be good to highlight - John Patton, Elmo Hope, Freddie Redd....

FWIW, Chick Corea TP spotted in the Merchbar store. Might be a worth a roll of the dice if you need it:

maybe Bob @Plaid Room / Colemine might be able to get those as well unless it's a one off deal ?

Anyone else's For Django have some "bzzzzipp" noises on Side B? Trying to figure out if thats part of the music, seems there are a lot of crappy copies of this in the lot

Don't have that title but that description sounds like a non-fill issue. I've run into that with some of the BN Classics pressings.

There has been discussion on Hoffman's that it's part of the master. Mine seems ok though.

I don’t recall any issues but will try to listen to it again. I also have an OG so can compare.
