The Cure - all things big, small, and sticky sweet

I've got my first Cure show on Sunday at Blossom. I'm only vaguely familiar with the band in general, so any crash course pointers would be greatly appreciated!

Listen to:
Head on the Door
Kiss Me Kiss Me
Disintigration

Then flip a coin and go backwards to either Faith or Pornography and you'll have covered all the eras and most pivitol of releases imo.

You'll have fun. They were great last night.

Just listen to the two compilations (Standing At The Sea and the first 13 songs on Galore), plus Disintegration and Wish. About 60-70% of their setlist will likely come from those tracks.

Most of it is, but they tweak 3-4 songs every night. “Prayers for the Rain” made an appearance the other night.

Yeah they played that last night.

They also played a TON of Head on the Door. It and Disintigration had the most appearences by a solid margin.

A few pointers...

  • If you have time to listen to just two albums the Head on the Door and Disintegration will comprise around 35% of the setlist. But I'd also add the Staring at the Sea compilation. And Wish. And Kiss Me...
  • There will be 5-6 'new' songs and while I usually am not a huge fan of hearing songs I don't know at a show their new material is great. You might want to search out some videos on YouTube.
  • Merch is great and super affordable ($25 tee shirts, $50 hoodies, $30 show specific posters, etc) Merch lines are LONG. If you don't need to try things on you can order via a QR code and they have a tent for you to pick it up without a line. As for the poster, check their website the day of the show and you can order online to avoid carrying it around. For me it was well worth the $7 shipping to not have to deal with it.
  • Get there early! Lines at both of my shows were out of control - from getting in the parking lot to getting in the venue to merch. Save the hassle and get there early if you can. Also, the Twilight Sad were quite good, well worth seeing even if you're not familiar with their material.

Being able to order merch online was fantastic. I ordered several posters that way.

Thanks for this! I try to get any show specific posters when I see them, so I am extra glad that 1) I can order it ahead of time and 2) They're affordable for once!

Luckily, my Lawn Pass at the venue gives me fast lane access to enter, so hopefully can jump the long lines to get in. My BIL and I tailgate most shows with a few beers before entering,

any idea what time prior to the show the posters have been made available online? would love to not have to worry about it tomorrow night and i'm guessing it's one of those things you have to be quick on the trigger once they're up.

it's a cool poster, even if they think saint paul is minneapolis. it's like calling fort worth dallas, or oakland san francisco.

Usually around 5pm and for most shows you have a few hours before they sell out but even then they add a second version of the poster that is just a few different colors.

So I have a very specific Cure question. I was just looking at the my Wish re-issue. Is Side D track list in the wrong order on the sleeve or am I just mis-understanding the direction that you're supposed to read the tracklist? To me it reads like the order should be End, To Wish for Impossible things, Cut. But it's actually the reverse of that. Just got my curious mind wondering.

The actual running order of the end of the album is cut, to wish impossible things and end.

It reads widdershins
