400 SACD titles would cost you thousands of dollars hahaAre there actually 400 different SACD titles available?

Nah, this would purely be to own a handful of titles I totally love to hear them as DSD files. That's really it. Just a fun side quest.Certain models of Sony I think allow you to rip SACDs too with a little hack if you want that functionality.
I got a marantz UD5007 that I quite like but not sure what the used price on them is these days. But it plays SACD and bluray so gives you some options. Before that, I found a $20 5 SACD changer for $20 at a local thrift store.

Some of the marantz do it too. A guy made an entire list of the SACD players that are able to use that exploitOnly the blu ray players and the original ps3 do that. The actual dedicated SACD players don’t. It’s some kind of glitch using a usb pen drive with a protocol and it transfers the files over WiFi to your computer.

Oh right —misread you. Thought you were saying only Sonys did itI know I’ve checked out. If you look closely they’re all blu ray players that happen to play SACDs as well. A dedicated SACD player generally lacks the computing power or network functionality to do that kinda thing.

Tryna get ahead!! (behind)SACDS ARE THE FUTURE
BOOOOOOK IT
Totally. I don't do CDs. With hi res PCM so readily available, I just don't have an interest. If a conventional computer could play a DSD file, I definitely wouldn't be enertaining this!SACDs - I just can’t do it. Between vinyl and CD, two formats are enough for me!

It's still going to be DSD over PCM, though, as far as I'm aware. Is there a sonic difference? I have no idea, but I figure if I'm going through the trouble....I’ve never had an issue playing DSD files on my MacBook and passing it to my DAC via usb. I think you do need to download a player that supports dsd from what I remember.

And you know I think I'm going back on my previous statement. Since there are relatively so few titles, I think I'd probably want some tactile liner notes. Maybe? I dunno, still hashing it out!
Both my DACs can do DSD over USB. I have roon but I’m sure other software will play the native DSD.It's still going to be DSD over PCM, though, as far as I'm aware. Is there a sonic difference? I have no idea, but I figure if I'm going through the trouble....

There is this for just over budget if you fancy an entire CD/SACD collection in one player…

SACD discs can be played back on dedicated SACD players or combination SACD/DVD-Video players. Certain SACD discs feature a conventional audio CD layer (hybrid SACDs) which can be played back by any CD player or computer with a CD-ROM drive.www.ebay.com

Also, how would I really know through my pos soundbar?
I’ll give it a look. No idea what gen mine is. I got it to be a dvd player when my 2 putzed out. Probably not, but easy enough to check out. I haven’t played a video game in ten years or so.It was the very very first run of the original 60GB PS3. On the front of the machine where it sets out the supported formats the SACD logo is there. From memory you could connect it directly to the RCA input on a hifi using the two audio cables from the S video out on it.
