The football thread RenegadeMonster is looking for: NFL talk

San Francisco's offense is really incredible. If everyone stays healthy they're going to be dangerous once again
I am chomping at the bit for the Cowboys-49ers game in two weeks. They should both still be undefeated it harkens back to those mid 90s playoff games that basically decided who was gonna win the Superbowl.

As formable as The Niners offense has been they probably have one of the leagues top defenses too. Not having to pay a stud QB is gonna pay off for them over the next few years.

Also, I knew the Bears were likely going to get embarrassed today but couldn’t the Saints at least hit a chip shot Field Goal to ruin Green Bay’s home opener?

This season is gonna be painful.

On the plus side The Cardinals won, meaning The Bears and Panthers both moved a bit closer to the #1 draft pick. The Vikes and Denver will beat the Bears in coming weeks and I am certain that Cincy will right the ship so things are looking good. Maybe The Bears can grab Caleb Williams and Marvin Harrison Jr.

I can't believe they left Fields in there that long tbh.
Fields is a mess. He needs to play to get better and prove he’s a franchise QB. He’s regressed a lot from last season to this season. Going back to last season he has now lost 13 straight games. He can do amazing things running the ball but he needs to show me he is more than Tim Tebow 2.0.

I still blame the organization and coaching for all this, the Bears have always put stock in running backs and line backers, not QB's, it's a mentality. All the folks crying that we could have had Mahomes don't realize the same thing would have happened to him here.

I hate to say it, but JF1 would be better off going to another team to try and salvage his career, we're going nowhere fast. Justin Fields didn't allow 40+ points.

Yeah, completely agree. JF1 should go play back up for the Ravens or Eagles and see if he can learn the position.

The Bears have no pass rush and play a Cover 2 Defense that absolutely requires line pressures without a blitz to be successful. It’s crazy for them to have thought this defense was gonna be anything better than subpar.

Ok, Jordan Love is off to a decent start, fine. But CBS Sports has him ranked as the 3rd best QB in the league. Come on.
I swear some of the sports media wants GB to have a third straight HOF QB and I am NOT HAVING IT!
It’s been a small sample size and what I have seen makes me think that he isn’t a washout type disaster but I do feel like when all is said and done he ends up in the realm of Tyrod Taylor or Teddy Bridgewater. Guys that have great completion percentages and rarely turn the ball over but are too risk averse as passers to rise to NFL stars. They are good QBs to have if everything else on your team is going great but they likely wouldn’t win you a game either especially if you’re done a couple scores.

And I know I am saying that after Love led the packers back from being down a couple scores last week against the Saints but that game came down to the Saints kicker moreso than Love’s arm.

Even Packers fans know he's not yet. I'd rank him in the middle of the pack somewhere right now. He still has more to prove before he even surpasses Cousins and Goff in the north. He was missing everybody all game until the 4th last game, and doesn't have his deep ball accuracy quite there yet. I think his ceiling has grown though, and hope he can reach those heights in a couple years.

On the other end of the spectrum the Ringer QB guy has Brock Purdy ranked 27th. I don't think he's the second coming of Joe Montana like some delusional Niner fans but c'mon, he's got to be a top 15 guy at this point.

I agree with this...and he's been helped along with the most PI yardage in the league so far by a big margin.

I was hoping you'd weigh in. Middle of the pack sounds about right. That's where I'd put Goff too.

That's certainly too low. I'm now officially amazed at what Purdy has accomplished...especially after that elbow injury.

Saints kicker and the fact that the saints lost their QB. That always will boost a win pct quite drastically.
