Right on! We'll probably hit Hershey and AC next year, maybe try and make it to CO for Dicks. Spent the last three Labor Day weekends doing the Dicks run while going to law school in Boulder, CO - the best way to end the summer IMO. Here's to hoping we get a festival in the near future as well 🤞 Curveball was a heartbreaker
 
What are your thoughts on that best of Garcia coming out for RSD? Y’all grabbing it?

I haven’t even touched his solo stuff but didn’t know if it’s a good place to start

Its a good compilation. YMMV on to its value because the best way to experience Jerry solo is the same as GD, the live material.

This seems to be the standard black, btw. For $18, that’s a great deal. There’s a separate listing for the picture disc.

So yes and no.

Buffalo '77 is my 2nd favorite show of May 1977, behind 5/22/1977. It's a strong show and every note is well played.

With that being said, the issue with the vinyl release is that the track list is really chopped up. Including splitting a Help>Slip>Franklin's among two sides and one side dedicated to just one song. It wastes a side on an etching. The pricing I've seen is north of the $100 mark as well, which to be frank is a little too high. You can still find the full Get Shown The Light box set for around the same price, which includes Buffalo, Cornell, and two other full fantastic shows (Boston and New Haven from the few days before) on CD and a well packaged box set.

I wish more thought went into picking shows that were better suited for vinyl or optimizing side/song selection on these releases.
 
I have the Cornell, Portland and Capital theatre shows and enjoy them all. The price from my local for the Buffalo show is $120 which I think is a little high.
Even though awkward, I don’t mind the song splits and the set list, for me, is fun. Ultimately the price will probably keep me away.
 
Yeah I’m always conflicted with this. I listen to most of my Dead on CD, rarely ever throw on full shows on vinyl. Only reason I got the Cornell boxset was because it was 50% off at Barnes and Noble last year. It’s nice to play a disc or two, but I never would sit there and flip through all 10 sides. I’d rather pop in the CD and just let it run.
 
Having a CD player has honestly curbed my dead vinyl playing. I’ve been working throhhh all my Dead CDs and with the 6 CD cartridge I can literally put on two fulls shows in a row without getting up, where one show on vinyl is a significantly more effort. I do like to play my 2-3 LP live releases on vinyl though
