I did a thing that, for once, didn't cost me anything.
I'd read in various places that it's best to keep your phono preamp away from the other system components, but with my space, I'd never seen a way to do anything other than cram everything onto one shelf, as pictured below. So on the left that's a Gold Note PH-10 phono preamp atop a Gold Note PSU-10 power supply, on the right a Quad Artera Play + (preamp) atop a Quad Stereo (amp).
Flush with the success of my wood-under-turntable project (posted in the Equipment Recommendations thread) , I decided I finally was going to make a change, but I had only a small space beside my stereo cabinet to work with. Measured the space and began searching the house for some kind of right-sized platform for the phono preamp/power supply. One thing led to another, and I ended up grabbing from my garage two ancient Acoustic Research speakers that offer the perfect dimensions for my space, and stacked one on the other provide a great height for placement of the phono preamp/power supply. Like so:
And now the Quads have some breathing room. It's not perfect, but it'll work.
