The N&G Top 500 Albums of All Time!!!

Late to the game, but here's my Rolling Stones top 10 - and this is an insanely awesome 10-album run by any measure:

Exile On Main Street
Sticky Fingers
Let It Bleed
Some Girls
Beggar's Banquet
Tattoo You
Goats Head Soup
Emotional Rescue
It Only Rock And Roll
Black And Blue

EDIT: I should add that I actually have Sticky Fingers over Exile on my All-Time Top 50. I change my mind on which is better on a daily basis it seems. Both are superb in my view.

I had (seemingly) strong reasons for choosing Let it Bleed at the top...and basically let that album represent all my top Stones albums on my top 50. Then, I listened to Sticky Fingers a couple days ago and wondered why it wasn't my favorite. And my next full listen to Exile just might give me the same thoughts.

I thought To Pimp A Butterfly was your all time favourite! Do you easily prefer good kid, m.A.A.d, city now? Or are they very close in terms of which one you prefer?
Yeah, it’s pretty close. My top 3 albums are all perfect (to me) so it’s hard for me to choose between them, but I go back to GKMC more often nowadays than I do TPAB, which is one of the main reasons why I put the former at #1 over the latter.

Mmmm yeah, that totally makes sense! I can’t believe we both have two albums that are the same in our top 3!!! I always thought of you having pretty close similar music taste!

Also, I was pretty close to putting Isaac Hayes’ “Hot Buttered Soul” in my top 50 and was absolutely delighted to see you list in your top 25!!! 👏👏👏😍

I love your list and I cannot wait to see how high To Pimp A Butterfly and What’s Going On? rank! 🙇‍♂️😄

Blanco Fácil has great songs on it, but I feel that "Hipnosis" is, and will be, his masterpiece. That whole album is great front to back.
I can definitely understand that opinion. It's definitely a much more polished album... feels like they went in with the idea that this would be, like you said, his masterpiece. And it's definitely a great album. I think that Blanco Facil is a more charming project though. And it came out around the time I was going through a break-up, so it was getting a lot of play and will always carry that kind of sentimental attachment for me.

I implore you to grade Goats Head Soup higher. IMPLORE. For me it is the perfect rainy day burnout-on-the-sofa record. I've owned all of them 10 lps on your list, some at least a few times, and its the one I keep going back to and never sell.

My Brilliant Theory, that i thought of just now, and for which I will probably be roundly lambasted, is the Stones truly found their real sound once they'd eschewed the tinpot fake black man's blues thing of Beggars and Exile. It's tough to argue against Midnight Rambler and Gimme Shelter but the Moonlight Miles and Fingerprint Files are their almost underrated essence.

1 Goats Head Soup
2 Sticky Fingers
3 Let It Bleed
4 Black And Blue
5 Exile On Main Street (a lot of this 2xLP seems almost throwaway compared to the sumptuous magificence of GHS)
6 Beggar's Banquet (ditto once you get past "Sympathy")
7 It Only Rock And Roll
