The NBA Thread

This might go down as the worst trade in NBA history?

The stupidest part is you cannot get a guy like him again in this town. Dallas is not a destination for guys like Luka. Talent does not come here unless there's nothing really left for them or you can force a trade for them like Kyrie.

We'll give you Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a first rounder in 4 years

Mavs owners and Nico-

But what if you're the adelsons and you need to get liquid to invest in more Trump Coin?

I already hated those people. Now I really hope legalized gambling never happens in this state and that the Republicans stick to their guns on keeping it out of the state. But everyone has their price.

All time loser franchise move or the new CBA truly has the league cooked. Zombie Stern needs to come back and veto this shit.
I saw The Mavs initiated trade talks and are supposedly “concerned about his conditioning” so they traded him for the one NBA all star with bird bones.

Luka averaged 33/9/9 and the second highest 3-point % in the league last year and is only 25 years-old. You don’t trade a player like this.

I'm done with the NBA when Jokic retires. I adore this sport, but you cannot convince me that Niko is not a Silver plant. Dude has handed Brunson to NY and Luka to the fucking Lakers.

You might be able to make a very bad argument in favor of trading Luka. But there is ZERO logic to trading him without canvassing the league for assets. The Lakers could have given up Reaves, Dolton, Maxie, AD and their 2 firsrs and it's still less than a team like OKC could have sent out.

It also seems clear Mavs new ownership is trying to Major League the team to Vegas. Both can be true.

I've never identified more with Seattle Supersonics fans than I do now. I feel like we're being played by someone and losing the team somewhere down the road to Las Vegas would not shock me in the least.

The easiest solution is one of two things. Either the GM was tired of Luka and knew he wouldn't resign him so he wanted to get something out of it or the new owners didn't want to pay him the Supermax. Or it was a combo of both which just shows that it will take a miracle to be competitive going forward. If they didn't want to pay him then don't add a sports team to your portfolio. If the GM was the reason then why the hell did you only do business with one team and get fleeced by that one team? That's straight incompetence and you should be fired. That he's not tells me it's a combination and you let your ego get in the way of being the steward of the franchise. You let a generational talent go out the door and got nothing in return. This could be a ruinous move for the franchise. I grew up watching the Mavs be terrible after almost getting to the Finals in the late 80s. I worry those times are about to return if this trade doesn't work out.

If a CEO made a similar move, they would be sued by shareholders for not evening trying to maximize profits and, in a different era, the company would be investigated by the the government.

They are gonna expand to Vegas (and back to Seattle) they won’t move Dallas. Maybe she sells her stake and buys in to the Vegas expansion team instead, Ownship is weird sometimes. Think of Michael Jordan and the Wizards then The Bobcats/Hornets. Or Jeff Lourey with The Marlins and Phillies. I

Once you throw emotions to the side, it's not too bad of a trade. Middleton is so slow now, and 1 good blow to the knees away from running around like Kenny Smith. I'll just miss those games where he blacks out, and takes over a game. I don't think we lose much production with Kuz, and should be able to help out much more on the D side. I just hope Giannis isn't too upset about it!
