Aphex Twin - Selected Ambient Works 85-92

Allmusic Review:

RIYL:

Brilliant. One of the first touchstones in electronica. Still sounds as amazing today as it must have in 92 (this was hard to get back in the day). Ambient music was not just sleepy chill at home music at the time, but could easily be played at the Rave. This album shows that. Brilliant stuff, hard to believe it came out in 92 and that some of it was recorded as early as 85 and all in his bedroom long before computers made it really easy. A revolutionary album on many fronts.
5 stars easy.

I have never listened to this. I have a pretty selective knowledge of electronic music and my only connection to Aphex Twin is that they're the band (or artist?) with the weird (but kinda awesome) videos from the late 90s. Looking forward to listening, although it might not be today due to a heavy workload.

New York Dolls - New York Dolls

Allmusic Review:

RIYL:

This is a wonderful documentary that involves The Dolls but focuses on bassist Arthur 'Killer' Kane, his life after The Dolls and his involvement in their reformation.

His death was incredibly surreal - he didn't feel well, went to the emergency room where he was diagnosed with leukemia and checked out only two hours later.

As for the record - essential. 5/5.
