Compared to many genres I have a fairly small Metal collection, just a bit over 40 Metal albums; and of those the majority are made up of either Doom or Thrash Metal. The only release I have that would kinda qualify for Black Metal is this one and it’s a bit more Black Metal by way of Van Halen.

October26This film is named after a board game that features racist caricatures and comedically plays on the racial tropes of American horror movies that tend to focus on white people. This album features some commentary on the racial disparities in America.

What is The Blackening (Solange - A Seat at the Table)?

"Don't Touch My Hair" commentates on the daily microaggresions that women of color face.

23. This family's annual tribute to Halloween is called Treehouse of Horror, and this band/muscian has made a guest appearance on their show.

Who is Elvis Costello - Get Happy!!?

I have some of his others on vinyl, but felt like listening to this one. My CD/digital collection is still and will always be much bigger than my vinyl one.

October27This late 90s Japanese film about a cursed videotape also had a successful American remake, this album also has ties to Japan.

What is Ringu [リング] (Strawberry Switchblade - Strawberry Switchblade)?

Well, this day is easy as I have more records with Japanese relation compared to any other foreign country. Ugh, I wanna go back...
I played this yesterday as part of the stack I worked through to completion, so I'll gladly play it again. Strawberry Switchblade's lone studio effort is this self-titled record, which still has a cult following today. It is a tricky one to find on LP as it has never been repressed outside the 80s. Jill Bryson and Rose McDowall's synthpop sound predated a cheery, yet slightly melancholic bent that would serve an inspiration to pop tropes found today. I mean when you think about it, their band name is an interesting dichotomy, isn't it? Bryson and McDowall's gothic fashion in this era was prototypical to the iconic Harajuku (原宿) fashion scene in Japan, they had a huge following over there (and still do!). Perhaps you might know "Since Yesterday?"
RIYL: Cocteau Twins, The Go-Go's, This Mortal Coil
