Toronto Weird Boys

My most recent order from them ran into some Canada Post fuckery and got sent back, but that's actually worked in my favour as I'd already picked something else up to build toward my next free shipping and they've just offered to toss it in with the shipment they're about to re-send my way. I appreciate these guys more and more every time I deal with them - and they focus on a lot of sounds that aren't the main thing at my local, which is nice.

Their weekly New Release newsletter has also quickly become my absolute favourite mailing list email to receive every Friday - it's an excellent read and has hipped me to some really cool stuff I might have otherwise missed.

Anyway, not that any of us need any more places or excuses to spend our money - but I also feel like the good ones should get further recognized for their work!

Yeah I'm a big fan of Audiopile.. I used to buy a lot of APs from them. Their prices were always significantly below any of the locals even when you factor shipping.

Damn, didn't realize they had an online store. I haven't bought much from them since early 2021.

Them and Red Cat were my locals when I lived in Vancouver and on the Island.

I've used them quite a bit as well and have nothing but good things to say. Good to know about using their site.
 
Not Toronto-related but another Canadian shop for you guys to check out from Saint-Jean QC. Used them a few times and they were excellent. I even received an order next day after ordering a few weeks ago (that was the one where I got the Depeche Mode reissues and the Chris Isaak RSD). Might be an intra-province thing, but then again I got packages from Jamie in a day as well. They carry Speakers Corner and are kind of fun if you're looking for French things.

CN Tower also has Ripley's Believe it or Not below it, along with an aquarium.

TO has pretty good high end pizza, I like Pizza Libretto (several locations around the City).

Do you know where you are staying?

Napoli Centrale is excellent and definitely family-friendly — it's just down the street from my place and probably our most visited restaurant. In the east end, Descendant is incredible Detroit style, but it's a tiny space so you may have to reserve in advance.

Where is Mill Street from? One of those opened by the War Museum in Ottawa maybe 7-8 years ago.

Their original brewery is in the Distillery District here on Tankhouse Lane. Their Tankhouse Ale was the beer that got me and my friends into craft beer in like 2008/09.
 
Happy Holidays Weird Boys!

I’m sure y’all are used to airport shit shows with Pearson, but I hope none of you are planning on going through YVR (Vancouver) this week (or have records going through there). Absolute mayhem. Most fights cancelled, folks stuck for 5+ hours in the plane on the tarmac (after they landed). Makes me thankful I cancelled my trip down and am staying in Whitehorse at -40.
