that wont be until a little bit i am waiting for a check to arrive then i will buy stuff
because i have a couple things i wanna buy from the uturn site beyond just the 45 adaptor and i dont wanna spend too much until i got more money from a check coming in (hopefully) next week... and plus i cant play records right now because i tried to test loosening the tracking force and i am scared i bumped it too far back or forward and will be getting a gauge as well once the check somes and i spend like hundreds to upgrade my sound setup
i checked the plinth too.. it was also level

i talked to Uturn and they say they think its a spindle or main bearing issue (the subplatter/spindle can be a little wobbly if i push or pull though i wonder if thats just to make sure it actually spins no problem if i move it without the platter and i feel the weight of the acrylic is definitely causing a bit of a tilt) and are just sending me new ones

I’m currently running with the grado black1, With the second tonearm version.
What I’d like to know is, if I exchange the Stylus to the 8MZ, Will that require any sort of adjustment? Thanks
btw I know I have a limited upgrade path with the orbit, so if there’s another grado stylus That I can use Without any modification, suggestions of course would be appreciated

Happy new year. It’s always best to double check your alignment and VTF after doing any sort of work, but no, everything will be the same if you swap for an 8MZ, which I’d definitely recommend. It’s night and day. The top end will open up a lot, rounder and tighter bass, and way more detail, while still retaining that Grado sound.

See the thing is, I was of the understanding that I could possibly switch Styluses without having to do anything else. Referring to the black1 to 8MZ
the black1 Has served me very well, and again, I know I have a limited upgrade path.
I’m just afraid I would mess things up if I had to realign or mess with the VTF as I’m a novice.
You can switch one for the other. It’s a direct swap.

I made a similar switch on my old U-Turn. The cart was the blue instead of black, but the process is the same. It was a very simple slide out of the old stylus and slide in the new one. I've never changed a cartridge before myself, and had similar concerns as you going into it, but the stylus swap could not have been any easier.

I kind of rock it from side by side and don't put too much pressure just in case it slides out easier than you think and you smash your stylus into the table thus snapping it off.

i am certain that at least 90% of the platter level issue is solved by the new spindle and bearing
first off the spindle holder was more silver than bronze on the new one and was much tighter in there which worked in its advantage to avoid the slight bumps
plus the new spindle has a little rubber stopper on it so the platter remains on the spindle at all costs, much better and makes sure either side works well
and finally it kinda looked like after i removed the bearing that some of the red finish near the screw holes had kinda chipped off (which btw that bearing is TIGHT, i needed a special grip to add more torque).. i removed those that might have lead to a SLIGHT bit of height difference and when it was all done it felt much better
there is a SLIGHT bit of wobble in the platter (it feels like it goes down like a single millimeter) but not nearly as bad as before and totally tolerable

For those that have a U-Turn with a built-in Pluto preamp, how do you deal with reducing hum? What are you doing in the way of grounding?
The UTurn grounds through the RCA cables.

I don't have the built in preamp, but I did have hum. I upgraded my rca cables to blue jeans due to the better shielding and it helped big time, almost completely gone after that.

No it's not that bad. I'm just going all in on a full refresh/upgrade of my listening area. I think I've got everything planned out:
- Creating a shelf to finally get my turntable off the same surface as a speaker and shorten the distance between TT and amplifier
- New speaker wire run and speaker placement to create that optimal listening triangle
- New RCA cables (Blue Jeans LC-1)
- New stylus. Have the OM5E. Going to go up to either the OM10 or the OM20
- Isolation equipment (Bumpers from Hudson Hifi, MAYBE splurging for the IsoAcoustics Mini Pucks for my KEF Q150s)
