Vinyl Me, D: A Free Record Club - Year 3 Official Thread - 36 Winners - Like The First Post, You're In For 2025 - 126 Free Records Given Away So Far

This Rodney Crowell album is the dive bar, beer drinking Christmas record I always wanted but never even knew it.

It’s less of the standard sad Xmas album that’s been made a hundred times over and a lot more about just the general fatigue with [gestures wildly] all this. Crowell has a solid rep as a songwriter that’s well-earned, so even the songs that really could have steered into cliche, avoids it and stay pretty solid.

As a Xmas “liker” on my best day, this one lands about as close to a legitimate Xmas album as I’m gonna listen to. So thanks @Yer Ol' Uncle D for an album I probably wouldn’t have given a thought to.

And happy holiday of your choosing, errbody.

It finally came!!! The one I was hoping for AND the one I guessed!

@Corycm's review above got me even more excited about the prospect of it being this one. Not being a big Christmas guy, I had a brief moment of trepidation when drawn for the month when @Yer Ol' Uncle D sends holiday records, but then I remembered that he posts and sends some pretty wild Christmas albums and I needn't be too worried.

Don't imagine I'll get to listen to it until tomorrow evening when the wife's not around (she'd probably choose Sun Ra over Christmas music) but I'm very much looking forward to it!

Thanks again, Unc.
For this, for all that you do, and for all that you bring to the lives of folks around you.

Big Love and Happy Holidays, y'all. 💜

Holy shit - Canadian Christmas actually came this year!

Hopefully, Rodney and Bill weren't too torn and frayed from being who knows where for over a month.

This one is about as far away from a Christmas record as you can get while still being a Christmas record.

If the missus is like me and drawn to the dark in lieu of the merry and bright, play her this one. She'll endorse it...

Wishing you, your family and everyone here the happiest of holidays.

We got 4 inches of snow which means with our local infrastructure I'll be trapped here for weeks so I reckon I should go ahead and pull the February winners in the event of my wintry demise...
