Vinyl Me Please Anthology

I would have never thought that I'd skip a Blue Note and Motown anthology but be eager for something like this, but revisiting this label after not really thinking about them for probably 15 years, I had forgotten how great they are. I worked for a record store around that time and all of their releases just made the best record shopping soundtrack when we put it on. My son is really starting to love electronic music, and I think this is exactly the kind of stuff he has particularly been drawn to. Put me in line for any discount codes that someone isn't using, please! My son and I both thank you in advance.

I'm for sure in if it's $150 or less...under $200 and i'd still consider it...would be a big plus to me personally to support a great Michigan label.

I would also love a Motown loyalty code if its a code-based thing and someone has one to spare.

I mean if it is $100, that's a zero hesitation purchase and I know next to nothing about Ghostly. Given VMP's current pricing structure, I just don't see them making these $17 a record + box + all the extras. But I'll take it.

Yeah I agree. I think it's going to be closer to 200...

If the price ends up being what most of us suspect (closer to $200), it will have been a dumb move to have something on that page that suggests $100. Would have been better to have a $300 placeholder price and then lower it for the reveal!

Could be, if it is just a placeholder I suspect they just picked the lowest 3 digit number they could... but yeah I see what you mean. To be fair, they shouldn't have to hide the price to begin with but whatever, their whole price witholding thing is annoying as hell.

I personally like the details up front from VMP but do enjoy some guessing with the monthly titles, just not with pricing. The balance would be - keep it guessable if people want but still announce for those who don’t want to know in advance. 🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️

Definitely agree with everyone about how VMP should announce the price. $200+ even $100+ is a major purchase for many of us. Having to force the consumer to decide a major purchase in just a few days is irresponsible of them.

<In the most sarcastic voice possible> What would you do with more time?

I think you have VMP confused with a company that cares about it's customers.

EDIT: Sorry, not trying to be snarky at you @cul8er, just at VMP. Your suggestion is spot on, but it will never happen with a company that depends on FOMO so much.

Yeah I agree...... but it's basically their main marketing strategy. I wish they'd just double down on good product and transparent pricing but they clearly think the FOMO thing is the only method that'll work for them. The QOTSA bs they pulled was a new low imo. But here I am, still buying.

I kinda want this upcoming Ghostly International Anthology but I think because international shipping will be $40/$50, I definitely won’t be getting it! 🙅‍♂️

I’m excited to see what the Ghostly International Anthology will look like even though I’m not getting it! 🙇‍♂️

And I’m looking very forward to seeing what the 4th VMP Anthology series is, as I’m sure I’ll be getting it! Even if it’s expensive like the Motown Anthology box! 🙊

I agree. Being a yearly subscriber it didn't really affect me, but I feel for all of the 3-month plans.

No worries.
I have no illusions that being a subscriber means anything more than consistent $ from me to them. I still feel like I am getting a decent deal at $23 a record for the main subscription and add-ons. But for the anthologies I wish they would at least come close to $23 per record.
