Vinyl Me Please Anthology

Well, first set of Dead replacements and they pretty much have the same light clicks as the first batch. So I'm guessing this is something on the pressing that my 2M Black is picking up. Since some albums in the set have them, some don't. Swapped over to my Bronze and they pretty much disappeared. So yeah, seems like a likely situation where the Black is highlighting pressing deficiencies. Hopefully it means when I change carts down the line these will disappear. But they shouldn't be there in the first place.

Damn that really sucks. My replacements still haven’t been sent out, but I’m hoping for better than what I had 🤞

Well on the bright side, the no fill appears to be fixed on the first Live Dead disc. And I don't have chunks cut out of these ones. So you should be fine. I haven't gotten to Wake or Reckoning. But the majority of my issues were these light clicks. Now that it appears they're just on there and my cart is highlighting them, at least I can be at peace with the fact that I likely can't do anything about it. Even though it's garbage. But when I change carts to a Soundsmith or Goldring or Nag or whatever hopefully I won't hear them anymore...

I've cleaned my Workingmans Dead 4 or 5 times now and it's almost acceptable but you can still hear a bit of noise across it overall. The others have been cleaned so many times that the issues are so absolutely apparent (always in the same place on the same albums). I think my WMD issue may go away but did the crunch at the start of live dead appear on your replacement too?

And same as Greeny. Still waiting on VMP shitting them to me

On a quick first listen there is no "no fill" on the replacement Live Dead. So that appears to be fixed. WMD has less light clicks that the first copy. But they're still there. I'm going to clean it again but I HIGHLY doubt it will make any difference.

@Mather Did you ever check your without a net? That was the one that had the clearest issues (I.e massive sections of knackered sound that were way past clicks and surface noise).
I haven't had the heart yet. Didn't know that about it. I'll check it today.

I don't anticipate difficulties getting replacements since they sold like... 10 of these.

That might just be enough copies for @Mather to get a flat and quiet set. I picture a white board with a VMP staffer frantically trying to develop a formula that will tell them how many copies they need to keep in reserve so to get a correct set.

Which discs of Without a Net did you have the biggest issues with? Or which sides I suppose...

I had loud pops during Feel Like A Stranger, close clicking at the start of Looks Like Rain or at least the first minute/ two minutes or so. Eyes of the World was constantly clicking (same song on Wake of the Flood... Poor bugger), side D was warped to shit (but c not noticably) side F was noisy as shit but there was solid crackle in Bird Song and pops on Dear Mr Fantasy.

Other than that it was lovely

Alright well I still haven't had the heart to get to Net, but Reckoning is now clean and so is Wake. So I'm slowly checking all the boxes. Live Dead is clean except right off the top of side 2 as the guitar is slowly building there's 7-8 right channel pops. Otherwise it's perfect. So I'll need another of those again but at least this one is perfect outside of that. WMD is still poppy. So I'll have to work on that one... Tomorrow is Europe 2 and 3. And then Without a Net. Very much hoping those are all clean which would just leave me with Live Dead Disc One and maybe WMD depending on further cleaning... I mean and that ink splotched Live Dead Jacket but it appears from what other buyers have shown me they all have that blemish on them. BABY STEPS PEOPLE
