I don't even know at this point. I do know it was supposed to be a game changer though, I think that counts? Was it ever marketed as a faithful replica, though?

It was definitely never marketed as a faithful replica of the 2003 CDWas it ever marketed as a faithful replica, though?
EDIT: Looks like the promo images showed the CD catalog number. Surprised this was missed. https://anthology.vinylmeplease.com/

The thing that kills me, is that this is such basic stuff. It's so completely obvious to anyone who is a music fan let alone works at a record company, that if you are doing what you claim to be a high end BlueNote box set you NEED to get the artwork right. There's no QUESTION it has to be a exact reproduction of the original artwork... one way or another. And if BlueNote sends you the wrong artwork you have to make sure it's corrected. How this sort of thing ever makes it to print is just staggering to me. It's gross incompetence, and it keeps happening over and over. It's beyond my comprehension.
And this is their problem ALL THE TIME. Like taking forever to tell us whether Horace Silver would be mono or stereo. "We just wanted to be absolutely certain so we could give you accurate information..." How do they not know what they're ordering? How do you plan a potentially amazing flagship product like this and have no one look it over with a collector's eye?So true. Blue Note peeps are mad obsessive. The "remastered in 2003" info on the back should have been a pretty obvious tip-off. Or, a quick click over to Discogs to proof the art work. Such a disappointment.
To be fair, we had gone over this in the last thread and *rest assured* it is a mono release. I haven’t seen the real life thing yet though. Only the mock-up.Looking at the website again, Horace Silver discs labeled Stereo... oh dear...
Anthology
Introducing VMP Anthology: a reinvented, immersive box set experience for music fans willing to journey beyond the liner notes. Each Anthology features expert storytelling, a private fan community and a collectors-edition vinyl box set.anthology.vinylmeplease.com
The back cover just looks so fucking tacky now though. Like even if we weren’t going to get the original liner notes, at least just have that picture and get everything else out of there and make sure the credits are right.
Hmmmm....
i can't find music matter doing a pressing of this specific album..Hmmmm....
Ron Rambach at Music Matters Jazz doesn't seem to have these same issues in terms of front and rear cover art. Interesting response.
i can't find music matter doing a pressing of this specific album..
if someone else did a vinyl reissue of this that had the original back cover than yeah i see the criticism... but im wanting to take vmp by their word and not feel like i wasted 4 years of my life and thousands of dollars on bad thing
Yeah this response is some serious bullshit. There is absolutely no way I believe that plain text on a white background was not able to be recreated, ESPECIALLY given that this album has already been reissued in the last 10 or so years twice without this problem.
First, I don't think you should equate a release error to wasting 4 years & $$ on a company. You can be happy with a company and your decision to support them while still be displeased with a specific product offering. That's actually how I feel at this moment. Do I like VMP as a company? Sure. Did I collect damn near everything they've ever put out? Yep. Do I regret it? Nope.i can't find music matter doing a pressing of this specific album..

sorry..But honestly Dukey, you don't need to feel that way. I don't! I think they've offered some wonderful products over the years. This is however, IMO taking shortcuts and on their most premium product to date. There had to have been other options, some more costly, some more time consuming, but this was the easiest and I think that's what people are a little cross about.
Guessing nobody at BN has that font on their PCs to retype the original rear sleeve either? Weird reasoning to me, I just can't imagine a plain text on white image is that hard to replicate from scratch.
