Do you have this pressing? Have heard some bad things about the quality…wouldn’t be surprised if the VMP sounds a lot better but agree that $45 is a hard pill to swallow

Nope. Daptone stuff is usually on par with like Numero. It’s not atrocious but not audiophile. I don’t know that RKS is gonna trounce Grossinger but if they are using GZ, it may be a wash. Who knows. I’m not spending whatever the non member price is to find out. And won’t even if you guys are like it’s amazing.

I won't pay full price for it. But I could easily see it being better than a Daptone release, based on my Daptone experience.

I haven't had a ton of GZ issues lately. And any issues I have with VMP ends with them sending me a replacement or refunding me completely, so not too worried about that. It's more the price holding me back right now. I do still have a lot of credit I may use if it goes to low stock.

If someone didn’t like the album enough to buy a copy for $25 why buy a copy for $45, regardless of quality? It seems like a weird decision.

i think there are some people who are just now being introduced to the record, so if the quality control/sound of the $25 version isn't great, I could see them going for the VMP instead eventually. I pretty much gave up on buying Daptone stuff on vinyl and streamed it instead since none of the pressings sounded all that great of the ones I bought.

This is their whole gambit. Buy a crate subscription and pay the “discounted” price. Keep them afloat. If you subscribe, shit that doesn’t sell out will eventually be in swaps.

but the discounted price IS $45....i'm pretty sure...that's what is showing up for me as a member. it might actually be even more for crate.

Because a swap for credit used to get you the retail of a ROTM. Now a swap for credit gets you the amount per month that your subscription is.

Understood, if I make myself a little clearer, They should not have let that be a possibility, almost all these subscribers would have been guaranteed these records before. Now they are saying, look at the new VMP isnt it better for you. When we all are very clear it’s really not. And now oh sorry you can’t afford that without giving us more cash. This will kill them.
