Vinyl Me Please Essentials

I just hope it isn’t R.E.M.’s Monster because I don’t like that album at all. It’s not a bad album though, it just isn’t to my taste. I didn’t like the last two Essentials ROTM’s, so I’m hoping I like this one!

Having three Essential ROTM’s in a row I dislike would be a first for me since joining VMP!

I have no time for R.E.M at all. So I am with you on this.

R.E.M.’s music reminds me too much of the forklift drivers at the factories I’ve worked at: men that have no fashion taste, eat frozen meals/just buy sausage rolls or pies on their work break and they would never be vegan. And also, they’re a bit patriotic and love placing a good multi-bet and they just know the suburban life. Like they enjoy social gambling and drinking cheap beer. But they’re still nice men 😅

I really hope the Essentials ROTM is something that is not similar to that aesthetic 🙇‍♂️

By my reckoning an R.E.M. album would get a few new members
For some who are considering signing Up for VMP, I would think that making this album the ROTM would be Automatic for the People. There’s some Murmur online that if the pressing was mastered from the original tapes, it’d be New Adventures in Hi-Fi. It’d be a Monster of a release that would make people who didn’t get a copy Green with envy.

I mean they're about as different to that as a band and people as you possibly could imagine...

Out of all of their albums that'd be one of the ones I'd like the least though to be honest.

Also I'd never be a vegan either and beer is great 😝

Hmmm I can imagine. But that’s the aesthetic I get when I hear their music. It’s not a bad thing though, it just isn’t my aesthetic 🙅‍♂️

Me too! I could never be vegan! That would be really tough for me! 😶

The reason R.E.M. are really popular is because they are really good. Their early stuff has nice mystery to it but they keep a questing spirit throughout their career. One of rock’s best discographies.

But Monster is getting a wide (and easily affordable) reissue everywhere so I have no need for a VMP version in ‘exclusive orange vinyl with a tip-on jacket and exclusive art print’ for double the price of the regular reissue.

This sounds like a Toby Keith fan.
