Vinyl Me Please Essentials

In all seriousness, I'd fuck with "Wayne's World", "Wayne's World II", and "MacGruber"

Though, I would prolly take "Kids In The Hall: Brain Candy" over any of em.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm can you really call The Kids in the Hall a spinoff/off-shoot of SNL? Production company aside and the fact that, after KITH ended, one of them joined the cast, I think that's where the connection stops.

That being said, I agree with you: Brain Candy is the best of those four you mentioned!

No, it definitely is not a SNL related project. Beyond the Lorne/Mark McKinney connection Kids In The Hall was pretty much it's own thing. I was comparing more from a sketch comedy show to Movie projects. Actually, I would kinda add "Wet Hot American Summer" and Reno 911!: Miami to the list too, maybe (I loved MTV's The State).

I guessed REM - Monster originally, but wasn't the reissue listed for release on November 1st? I don't think it could be that anymore, unless we're getting it a few weeks early from release or (more probably) a few weeks after the normal subscription.

Just “1994 or 1999,” but That Dog just recently digitally reissued the self-titled album for its 25th anniversary and they have their new album coming out in October. Their other albums have been out of print, so there’s a lot of opportunity for additional tie-in exclusives, which I believe we are to expect for some of the ROTMs this upcoming month.

that dog. seems a strong contender , too. there seems to be no Vinyl release announced for the debut, just the digital.

is anyone else a Little sad that Petra haden seems not to be involved in the reunion and new Album?

Yeah, definitely wish Petra was involved. She’s hanging out with Mark Kozelek instead.

@Joe Mac - Do you like That Dog’s self-titled debut album? I’m sure you’ve heard the album and I’m interested to know whether you like the album or not! 🤔

Never heard of them until you just tagged me there Nathan! To be honest in that era I was a child and then young enough teenager with just about the funds to keep up with the U.K. acts I liked! I only really know the huge US acts from that period from seeing them on top of the pops and later on at festivals!

Ahhhhh I see! Sounds like a nice childhood! 😊

I like your music taste the most when it comes to alternative rock, so I wanted to know your thoughts on the album. Like........if you said you didn’t care for “That Dog” or that you disliked the album, then I wouldn’t get the VMP exclusive for it 😂

Yeah if I knew id tell you but that was a particular time when the music business was pretty strong locally and a US band had to be more special to break through outside of those who were looking for it. I was too busy saving my pocket money to buy all the blur and oasis singles back then haha!

That makes total sense! So good that the UK had such a great 90’s rock music scene back then!

I hope we get a great rock Essentials ROTM this month! Next month is going to be a bit more on the “hard rock” side, so I probably won’t care for the album.

Unless it’s Songs For The Deaf! Don’t defy Queens of the Stone Age!

The likelihood is though that like the last 6 essentials I’ll be disinterested!
