Vinyl Me Please Essentials

If you are a fan of the ROTMs and haven't been here yet (getting close to a 100 votes and it's tight). Help us crown the monthly champ. This is going to be an ongoing series for us to enjoy the music and rank some albums.

I think I'm in for Phoenix and a swap or two for June, and then I'm done with VMP until they put out something I truly, genuinely want. Not gonna give them money just to try records out anymore, I'm going to be much more selective from now on.

have we pretty much determine it is Phoenix or is it still somewhat up in the air (if it is Phoenix that might also explain the forum shutdown)

I'm still gonna be pissed if it's Phoenix since it was just in the store in January...
It wouldn’t be the first time they did this.

and to VMP credit, they’ve done this before, but they seem to try and make it worth having their version as well if you already own a regular version. The only one I don’t think they did any changes besides color was The National.. is that right?

Beach House definitely had this controversy. It was never so contemporaneous though that they obviously knew they were going to be releasing it. This time it would be hard to explain.

I’m probably in the minority here, but I actually don’t mind a record being a ROTM even if it was in the store shortly before that. A numbered limited edition run of a certain color is different from a larger print run. And while I’m sure it was nice for the thousand people or so to get the record, maybe VMP felt that record should be more widely available to all of its members, or there’s a new master specifically for vinyl or something. With swaps being an option, it’s not an auto-screwing for those that already have it. I’m not really a sunshine pumper - there’s plenty of recent moves that VMP has made that I disagree with - but I wouldn’t mind a Phoenix. Heck, at this point I might be actively pulling for a freaking Titanic Rising ROTM just to get one copy of the thing I already bought...

If you’re hesitant to disclose publicly, mind messaging me it?

Go to the current ROTM page then edit the URL to reflect the new issue number, artist and title for the suspected rotm. If it redirects back to the current rotm instead of the main store page that means your guess is correct.

Edit: Sorry @Wes C. Attle I didn't mean to step on any toes here, I just got excited that I knew something!
