Vinyl Me Please Essentials

I really don't understand how they are going to sell that Black Key's album, if that is what February actually is, at $43 when you can readily get it so much cheaper. There was a recent color repress in 2020 that is currently going for $27 on Discogs right now. And there are so many other versions of the album for even cheaper online.

Yeah, the standard version is typically $16. I would stilll go for a fancy foil-stamped, tip-on jacket with colored vinyl with an art-print, etc. if VMP put it out. Then again I love me some Black Keys, they're from the same part of Akron OH as my whole family.

DEFINITELY doing man on the moon, dont know about the black keys but the strokes im definitely in.. and i know nothing about john prine and the drama makes me unsure

That's cool about the personal connection.

I know VMP counts on those minor details (tip-on, foil, color vinyl) to sell their products. But are those small details worth the extra $27 (versus the standard press at $16)? I don't know? To many it seems to matter. Me personally, I'd rather have more music in my life than the collectability factor. That $27 could cover the cost of at least one, sometimes two new records.

I appreciate that $43 is the retail cost of this, but I'd hazard a guess that the overwhelming majority of subscribers are not paying anywhere near that much (I would guess the average is likely around the add on price) which changes the equation somewhat.

It's like Kohls and their shirts that are list $60, but available for 35 bucks the majority of the time.

Very few things are worth their full retail, nonmember price.

But...then you will be missing out them misspelling the albums as Thicknessfreak or Room on Fier

You're probably right.

I really really really hope it’s Kid Cudi, that album was really something else to me growing up in New York. Easily the overarching soundtrack to my teenage years.
I would be surprised if it was anything other than Kid Cudi. That album was pretty much everywhere in certain circles in 2009 and seems like a VMP esque pick.

I can’t imagine the Essentials hip-hop album being Blackroc. Like...it’s not big enough at all...

Even Killer Mike’s R.A.P. Music for example would sell much better than Blackroc’s debut, and that’s going to be a R&HH ROTM.

I’m confident it will be Kid Cudi’s Man On The Moon!

Blackrock is definitely not big enough.

You know what might be though? Blakroc!
People always hate it when I post it in what's spinning. Getting all jealous and shit.

besides kid cudi the only others are blakroc (which is VERY MUCH a stretch) or wale
I think Drake's So Far Gone could work and an extra bonus as a first vinyl pressing. The mixtape is the expanded version of his debut EP, so it could be "1," and would unquestionably meet the parameters of Essentials.

But I think it's Kid Cudi.
