I will shortly...Anyone have both the VMP and the 2020 orange-red flame edition to compare?
Mine was skip free.Just playing my copy of Room on Fire & it has several skips on track two. I’ve played it several times & it always skips in exactly the same places. Anyone else having this problem? The rest of the album sounds great...so far...I’m just starting side two.
So far so good here too. And Reptillia! My word! They've absolutely knocked this out the park.Mine was skip free.
Am I the only one who thinks it's bass-heavy? It's hardly unlistenable, but I keep finding myself noticing the bass as if someone punched in the Loudness button or something.Got to say. I've cranked the shit out of this and it sounds absolutely class. At the risk of sounding coarse it's absolutely fucking brilliant.
My copy is balanced as a muthafucker. The bass is there but it's not overpowering the rest.Am I the only one who thinks it's bass-heavy? It's hardly unlistenable, but I keep finding myself noticing the bass as if someone punched in the Loudness button or something.
It doesn't sound distorted or anything. I'll give it a few more spins before deciding if it's a real issue. "Too much bass" is not a normal complaint for me...My copy is balanced as a muthafucker. The bass is there but it's not overpowering the rest.
Knowing VMP as I do there is always a chance you've been sent a duffer?
I'd compare it to my older copy for you but when I pulled it out the shelf before it turns out its still sealed... Which is bizarre as I can definitely remember listening to it in the last year... Which means somewhere in here there's another Room on Fire... Or my dog has somehow worked out how to reseal shrink wrap and is seriously fucking with meIt doesn't sound distorted or anything. Either this or the John Mayer. Both sound super! My copy is balanced as a muthafucker. The bass is there but it's not overpowering the rest.

In fact... This is going to be open to dispute... But I think this is the best sounding Essentials they've done. It's absolutely brilliant.
Yeah. I'm not going to go all NR on it but that was some seriously enjoyable shit. So much so that I almost chucked it straight back on as soon as it was finished.Either this or the John Mayer. Both sound super!
I have Newbury version of room on fire. I really like that pressing. It sounds great. I also have the MOV presses of is this it and first impressions which are pretty good.
Is the VMP pressing that good? This is one of my all time favourite albums so I'm pretty tempted to pick this up. @Joe Mac I know you're a big strokes fan as well did you pick this one up?
Somehow an audiophile mastering of this bands music might also piss me off in some ways. Kind of part of the charm when it sounds like it was recorded in some grungey basement with mics placed by roadies.
Sorry no I’ve no intention of buying this or supporting VMP right now. I had orange flame one that came out in early 2020, I bought it either from jpc or hhv, and it sounds great. I see no need to trade it out.
Yeah the other two albums were from that same run. Should be MOV, and I think they sound great too.
Hoping someone eventually compares this one to the other versions. I'd hate to miss out if it's indeed the definitive version.
I've the Rough Trade of Is This It and it's absolute dog shit.If it was “Is This It” I’d kinda be on the same page, although I have the actual MOV release of that one and it sounds mega, but for Room on Fire I’m just not at all curious lol. Plus I’m not rejoining an expensive circus thst always flatters to deceive and disappointsz
