Vinyl Me Please Essentials

He wants Bloc Party's Intimacy or Maximo Park's Quicken the Heart

Intimacy is a great album, I’d bite their hand off it it was up! Maximo Park, they had that one good song once right?

It’s a point way beyond just this month though because not every indie month is limited to third albums.

It's been so long since I listened to Intimacy, I should give it a relisten.

Maximo Park's first album has some real classics on it and absolutely slaps. Everything since? Not so much.

I guess Tyrannosaurus Hives would give you Swedish rock. That was a big album in the States for a bit when it came out.

So if we are going Indie 3rd albums from the 00's, the likeliest list of albums is:

Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest
The Antlers - Hospice
Sufjan Stevens - Michigan
Modest Mouse - The Moon and Antarctica
The New Pornographers - Twin Cinema
Broken Social Scene - Broken Social Scene
The Wrens - The Meadowlands (this is my hope)
The Hold Steady - Boys and Girls in America
Yeah Yeah Yeahs - It's Blitz

I'm not including 2010 in the list and of course there are a lot of other indie bands with 3rd albums, but none that strike me as "Essentials" unless I'm clearly missing something big.
New Pornographers "Twin Cinema" and the Decemberists "Picaresque" were both great 3rd indie albums from the 2000s.

my brain still says antlers because that announcement was too coincidental..

my gut wants new pornographers, modest mouse, or broken social scene

likelihood says its probably grizzly bear

No! I really don’t want if for be The Antlers’ Hospice! That album is boring, timorous and dry! Hospice would be an instant skip for me!

Hospice would be my least favourite Essentials ROTM in a very long time! I liks Jim Sullivan’s U.F.O. more than The Antlers’ Hospice!

If we get Hospice, it’s okay though because it means we would be getting Usher’s Confessions which is a superb album + a great 70’s funk album (likely the magnificent ‘There’s A Riot Goin’ On’ by Sly & The Family Stone)!

I think TTL just did Broken Social Scene S/T and "You Forgot it in People". I've been hesitating picking them up as the last time I ordered from TTL in Canada it was RTJ2 and that came just under $60CA. I want those albums but not willing to spend over $100 on both.

I've been eyeing a copy of "The Moon and Antarctica" from my local, wonder if anyone can tell me how the current pressing sounds? I don't think I'll rely on the off chance that VMP will pick it up. It's pretty doubtful they will.

I have this one and it’s alright…

Good enough that I likely wouldn’t be repurchasing if it were the ROTM.

Cool, even if it's ROTM I think I'll probably just pick it up from my local instead and save the money for the track.

Do you happen to have "We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank"? That one's a bit pricey at my local ($54) and I've debated picking that one up. I put that album right below Moon and Antarctica imo, but I've heard the pressing isn't so great.

Wu, PE, Hawkins and Morgan are out for delivery today. No discog listings for the three ROTM I ordered yet and I'm not going to go through the hassle of adding them, so someone please make the listings :p
No notice on the 7" and I want it, which means I'm not gonna get it.
See that's weird. We live in the same city, but no tracking at all for me yet. They usually go out at the same time...

Nah, I really only a few songs on that one Good News… was the last Modest Mouse LP in their that I would likely own on wax.
