Vinyl Me Please Essentials

Sooooo received my Volta today and yes to the surprise of exactly no one it's covered in noise. However instead of the solid wall of right channel noise across A and B that the first copy had, this one changes it up with a Side A LEFT channel noise and a rhythmic "whump" every rotation, and scattered pops and THEN Side B continues the GZ right channel tradition of a nice solid bit of noise and also scattered pops.

So yeah I mean... the noise is kinda different now? That's... something? But honestly by what I'm hearing I don't expect there to be many if any clean copies of this repress. This isn't a minor issue, clearly GZ has entirely lost the plot at this point...
The question is: Are you going to put in for a replacement? Like, how masochistic are you, really?

Oh hey, just had a look at Disc A...

Like... that double scratch goes across the entire Side A. That's... actually impressive, that's an aspirational scratch. Like that's the scratch that all other scratches hope to one day be. That scratch is a fucking BOSS. I want to have a drink with it, it looks like it knows how to PARTY.

To the point where I have 3 VMP records sitting there and instead of putting them on while working, I have The Wire on the tv for background noise.

I haven't heard any complaints about HHNF yet, and the other two are Freddie King and Art Blakey (which may or may not have a warp) but the PTSD is making me dread putting them on right now.

a little elbow grease and 120 grit sandpaper will fix that no problem.

So repress actually means that someone exerted pressure on the disc's by walking over them?

What's funny and not so funny about this whole thing, is that I accidentally bought a Wax Time version of Saxophone Colossus (amazon did not have any description and I quickly ordered it with MOV Still Bill without fully looking, I only figured out my error after I ordered when I took a close look at the product pictures). Strangely, in comparison to everything GZ related in the past few months it sounded....actually pretty decent. Like holy shit what a world when my shitty knockoff album sounds better than my high priced premium records (aside from classics releases). No noise, clean disc, no warps and the sound is surprisingly decent. Not audiophile but far better than I expected.

So I got a response on my fucked MV, WU, PE. They asked if I wanted a replacement or store credit. I reluctantly oped for store credit for the MV and PE, but a replacement for WU as I REALLY want a noise free copy of that record. If this one has noise too, i'll just do store credit there too. What a god damn joke. I really hope Hell Hath No Fury is noise free...

I'll report back on my HHNF later on, but I haven't read any negative reviews yet. People are only starting to getting their copies this week though.

I would've taken the L and gotten the store credit for Wu too, I don't think you're going to have any luck.

The fact that my 3rd copy was just distortion, no noise gives me hope. Stupid, and it shouldn't, but it does. I just want to keep adding to the stats of this being a press wide issue.

I don't know...the fact they (at least not to my knowledge) aren't telling us they're going to repress like they have with MV and PE makes me think that they're writing this one off and giving store credit when replacements aren't enough.

FWIW I think I currently have at least six copies of Wu from buying it twice. All of them have the right channel distortion on the bass throughout the entire first side. No matter whether they have bad right channel noise off the top or not. So yeah, unlikely.
