Vinyl Me Please Essentials

wait.. what if they DO press it at pallas and not Gz like the rest of the new reissue
I have heard that the OG copies have really shitty covers, I don't know about the reissues, but I haven't heard anyone bitching about it th3e same way that the OG covers get hated on. THAT SAID, Pallas with VMP sleeves and maybe a nice color? I am probably going to go for it, personally.

It looks like the 20th anniversary editions were gz presses, but the recent EU 2021 reissue was pressed at pallas.
I preordered the 2021 reissue from target (it has the same bar code/upc # as that 2021 EU reissue) for $27 using the 3 for 2 deal.

It’s $27 right now on Amazon.

I’ve said this before, but the GZ pressings have destroyed my enjoyment of the Country track. I have had the standard GZ crackle on the last A side track of almost every VMP Country album I’ve gotten. It’s just sad.
Yes, Essentials is pretty much ruined for me in the same way, if they pick Modest Mouse I'd be interested...but ultimately I think I'm going to pass on it, since I'm not confident that GZ can produce an issue-free VMP release. Thankfully the guesses for the next three months for Classics doesn't interest me enough to spend that kind of money, and with Claudia Thompson shipping today I think it's well past time VMP and I go through a trial separation.

Seriously bummed to be reading that there are bad copies of The Meters out there. Was really hoping they were all gonna come through as clean as mine. And now I'm back to worrying about all Essentials pressings in the pipeline. Grrrr.

I'm really looking forward to Claudia Thompson. Hope it doesn't get messed up. Seems like things like Buck (where they are latching on to other's work) have been coming out okay, so there's hope.

I meant the Buck store drop which is a blue version of the Sundazed clear. Although I haven't heard much in the live album at all.

Yeah, I've had enough of VMP. I have a bunch of credit that I plan on using on the Impulse Anthology, so fingers crossed that that is pressed at RTI, Pallas, or QRP rather than GZ.

https://www.albumoftheyear.org/publication/1-pitchfork/perfect/ they don’t throw them around often. What year are we looking for?

Modest Mouse Confirmed

LOL, of course when it was reissued Pitchfork dropped the score by a point and a half. The original review gave it a 10. Pitchfork is shady as fuck with their reviews. I am fine if they reassess as time goes by but at least be honest and leave the original reviews and rating available for posterity sake. It just make the site looks disingenuous. Spin and Rolling Stone have given some reviews that didn’t age well and no one cares.

Anyways here’s an AOTY screenshot …

Gotta say, Homogenic is in DESPERATE need of a 2LP version after picking it up a couple of weeks ago. Not saying VMP should do it, because GZ is just going to fuck it up, but someone needs to do the necessary here.

So the options for Sigur Ros are:
A. Buy the 2021 reissue pressed by Pallas on black vinyl for $30

or...

B. Buy the 2021 VMP reissue pressed by GZ on colored vinyl for $40

Price aside, Pallas is (imo) the best pressing plant. But kids gotta have them colored vinylzz

Also, save $10 bucks and if something is fucked up, Amazon’s exchange policy is about as forgiving as VMP.

Sigur Ros is the only one I don't own of the 3 and if it's GZ I might as well save my money and just buy a better copy from my local!

Listening to the Modest Mouse right now and this copy sounds fine to my ears and seeing as I am currently sitting across the room listening to this, a fancy colour isn't going to add anything to the listening experience, never does!

The Grimes record, already have it, wife loves it but would not approve of spending like 4 times the cost I originally spent on it to collect 4 bum ass copies then give up and take credit!
